Game of the century.. so far.
We've got the series to look forward to.
Something I thought was completely out of reach after Ortiz rocked Boomer.
I still don't know if I believe it or not. Could be I'm exhausted since I couldn't fall asleep until 2. I had so much adrenaline pumping through my body... and a sh!t eating grin so wide my face hurts this morning!!!

I don't blame you. I live in Jersey, too and I NEVER want to return home....from anyplace.

Thanks! Man, one offhanded little line and I'm getting FReepmail ;)

It's pretty simple really.
Anyone who has been out to Memorial (or is it Monument?) Park in Left field knows exactly what happened last night.
The Ghosts of Yankees Past.

I wanted to stay and party and celebrate all night there but, needed to be somewhat coherent at work today. I like your about page, very nice.

Speaking of the "curse"...
You know who reminds me of the Babe?
Nick Johnson... physically that is. He doesn't hit like Ruth obviously. Although he's been known to go yard.
I couldn't help thinking that during the game. The Babe was almost "there"... You know?
To: capydick
Thanks. I'm sure there will be many new additions soon.
You're a lucky guy.

Monument Park. I kept looking over there lastnight, especially during the 4th thru 7th, looking for some help. It came in the unlikely form of Aaron Boone, thats the magic of it.

That was an awesome series. My brother lives in Maine and I live in TX. We are both from NY and Yanks fans. My brother told me stories of Sox fans in Maine acting like thugs! He was on cloud 9 last nite ( and the bottle of Capt. Morgan didn't hurt)
Speak to you after game 1 on the thread!

Grady should be fired this week for sending Pedro out in the 8th inning, or at least not yanking him after Williams knocked in Jeter. He plainly had nothing left, and Matsui
proved it beyond a shadow of a doubt by tattooing a double to RF. Strike 4 was allowing him to pitch to Posada, a Sox killer if there ever was one.
Interesting: Pedro had X-2 counts on all 4 batters who reached that inning, and he couldn't nail the door shut. But for the love of MIKE, that's why they pay TIMILIN to pitch!

Monument Park... That's right.
I haven't been to Yankee Stadium since '94 since I live in DC now and getting up there for a game is tough. We would've won it that year for Mr. Baseball. (Don Mattingly for those who were wondering).

What a series! Game 7 overtime after the Sox 3 run lead till the 7th, Mussina's 2 scoreless innings, Clemens walks off, Giambi's 2 dingers (with no men on base)! Worst moment: The grounder to short stop with the bases loaded!
The MAGIC!!!

I see it too. Physically, he has the body shape and height. He also wears his socks up and tucked under the pants, like the Babe did. I happen to like that look, it's a nice throw back look for the Yankees.

Even in the face... It's almost eerie.
And I like the throw back look too. It just adds to the mystique.

Sounds just like my story. My dad took me in 1974 when they played at Shea. My Dad was a Yankee fan since he was 7 years old, 1940. Since my dad passed, I will keep the tradition and pass it on to my daughter because to me that is what they are a family tradition.

He made a couple of mistakes from the 8th inning on. Those innings will go down as a part of the Red Sox legend of choking when the chips are really down. It seemed clear that Grady let Pedro make the decision to continue on. Granted, Pedro is an excellent pitcher but, coaches get paid to make the decisions, not the players. If he had been yanked and put Timlin in (wasnt that their recipe all season?) we might be talking about a Sox/Marlins World Series.
But we're not!!! : )

Exactly!
Last night I my father called me in the 5th inning and my I called my brother in the 7th and we talked about the game. Doesn't matter where we all live, when the Yankees are on I know 2 other people who are watching and it's like there right there with me.
It's going to be tough living in DC with keeping the tradition alive with my kids (1 daugther and another "unknown" on the way) but I think we'll swing it somehow.
Go Yanks!
To: nuffsenuff
You won't have a problem I have been living in Hillbilly Pennsylvania for 10 years I don't see them on TV that much but I usually put CBS.com and watch on the computer or listen on the radio. I do have to take my daughter to the stadium one day. That is one thing I miss being so close since I grew up about 8 miles from the stadium (Yonkers). Oh and me and my sister call each other also, we did that also with my dad three calls after a playoffs or World Series win. That is so funny we sound very alike in that way.
