Banned for life? Naaa. Second guessing the manager is the real American Pastime.

What kills me is that goverment, at virtually every level, is looked upon to "solve" all of the problems of the world. That's the "less personal responsibility" effect playing out. Human nature looking for an easy, sure win. That is not healthy for the critter, in the long run. But the critter is not wise.

OK. I had a few Mia Hamm jokes that seemed to go un-noticed in the heat of battle. I really thought they were good, so at the risk of belaboring jokes (which is
the comedy mistake), I will reprise them here:
Hamm, the other white meat.
Nomar should convert to Judaism, and stop eating Hamm.
and, Converting to Judaism? Nomar Hamm.

My "No Goat Zone" (a play on "no gloat zone") went without comment too. This is a demanding audience!

But Manny committed the throwing error on the sac bunt earlier in the inning. The point about where Jeter was playing is well taken and was mentioned by ESPN that very night.

Here's a line another freeper used a few days ago. This freeper, whose name escapes me at the moment, suggested that when the Yankees won this series, they should play "Mama, Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Cowboys" instead of "New York, New York"!

It is not like he blew it like Wakefield did tonight. I don't blame Grady Little for putting Wakefield in, considering how poorly the Yankees had been hitting against him. But it was a mistake to leave Pedro in during the 8th. I don't care how much he wanted to stay in -- heck, you could tell Clemens wanted to stay in during the 4th inning, but Torre pulled him anyway.
Incidentally, Mike Mussina is really an unsung hero during this game. He came in with runners and first and third and nobody out, and he shut down the Red Sox for three innnings.

The shaved heads make a whole lot more sense, in " sports " mentality, than that stupid " Cowboys Up " thing, which I hadn't ever heard of, until this series. It makes absolutely NO sense whatsoever, is beyond juvenile, and doesn't fit a New England team at all. I too, would like someone to explain it.

I (still) can't wipe the smile off my face :)

One of the Sox - I forgot which one - started using the expression earlier in the year, and it just caught on. .....first with the team, and then with the fans. ....Juvenile, as you said.

Why even try ? I am smiling, my husband went to bed smiling. My daughter & son-inlaw went to bed smiling. And the ONLY thing none of them can understand, is why I am typing away still. LOL :-)

Thanks for the explination. It just makes NO sense at all; but then, I guess it didn't have to, to the Boston team and their fans. VERY Juvenile !

The LCSes were good, but can you imagine the ratings a Cubs-Sox series would've drawn? This is the worst possible outcome for the networks, even with two outstanding division series. With the "cursed" teams gone, people are just going to see it as "ho hum, Steinbrenner buys another one," and quit caring--even though it's actually shaping up to be a pretty darn good matchup. The Yankees aren't the invincible Yanks of old, and the Marlins are a hell of a lot better than people think.
Prediction--this World Series will have the worst or second-worst TV ratings in the past 20 years. It won't deserve those ratings, but it'll get 'em.

Other teams have fans that wave white towells (like the French), have "rally monkeys" (last years' Angels), think up stupid sayings ("Cowboy Up"), call their betters "The Evil Empire" (The Sox again)......but the Yankees forgo all of that nonsense.
For them, it's all about winning, and doing it with class and style.

If Little runs a race on one set of tires, Dusty Baker would run an entire SEASON on one set. He didn't trust his bullpen and it cost him when he left Wood in too long.
