Republican presidential candidate Rand Paul said Tuesday that government workers who were outed by hackers as members of AshleyMadison.com - a website created to facilitate extramarital affairs - should not face punishment.
Before he could register that opinion, though, he had to figure out what the heck "Ashley Madison" is.
"I keep seeing that headline, but I'm terrible - I don't know what it is," he confessed to a Washington Post reporter when he was asked about the hack of the risqué website, which exposed the contact information of millions of its users.
The senator asked, "So, she has done something illicit?"(continued)

That doesnt even count the factor of blackmail.
I’d never heard of it, but I gave up TV 10 years ago.
Rand who?
Having always been an employer in the private sector, folks are not supposed to use the business computer for ANYTHING personal. Not to go on Facebook and certainly not to troll for dates. Any dates. Extramarital affairs, Match, any of it.
One would expect that folks feeding at the federal trough would not use the taxpayers computers for ANY personal monkey business, especially, of course, extra marital affairs.
I think Rand knows exactly what it is and he’s worried about his own secrets getting out.
Me too. I only heard of it since the hack story came out. That is not to say I defend Paul. He gives a typical libertarian answer. He seems to think actions do not have consequences, that there is no cause and effect — even if there is, it can’t hurt anyone but the individual doing it. WRONG! What about the poor spouses and children these deadbeats took vows before God to stay true to?
Have you seen his wife?
I have a question for Rand Pauk: who has suggested punishing them? I haven’t heard of anyone.
It was a question asked of him by a reporter.
Pretty obvious Rand used Ashley Madison and trying to cover his behind.
I thought using your government email and computer for unauthorized personal stuff was already against the rules and subject to discipline.
You mean like the last Secretary of State?
Rand’s wife is a fox. No way he is using Ashley Madison
I assume it applies to everybody but that is debatable.
The wives of the military men busted are going to get a double whammy. First, the humiliation of being married to a cheating husband. Second, the loss of income, health insurance benefits, retirement pay and every other perk a military spouse is entitled to when their cheating husbands are court martialed and tossed out of the service.
They can divorce them and get half of nothing.
I say FURP.
There’s nothing wrong with federal employees using their federal email addresses and computer time to enjoy Ashely Madison. Wait, tell me again what Ashley Madison is?
Hate to say, but Trump is going to shoot himself in the foot too many times before the first caucus. I just wonder who is going to benefit from his disaffected following. Hope Ted Cruz. Liked Walker, but he is not running an effective campaign. Ben Carson is a nice soft-spoken man, but doesn't have the gravitas. All the rest are RINO's and has beens.
