That is pure horses patooty. Sounds good to the folks who wish to believe it, sounds like excuses to anyone else.
An oath to serve is an oath, right? Those people elected you because they chose to believe in you. By telling them you are doing them a favor by stepping down, you would have to fade into the background instead of making tons of bucks and setting your sights on higher office.
Now how do you explain you want to be POTUS, but if folks start hammering you and things get tough, as they actually will, you will step down to do the people a favor? Who buys that stuff?
If Palin gets the nomination, I will hope that the person who should have been the President is VP.
I was wondering when you would show up.
The kind of games they played with the Governor of Alaska cannot be done with the POTUS.
As for her stepping down—your solution would have been for her to stay and allow the office of the Governor to be completely overwhelmed and useless. This would be essentially an overthrow of the government of Alaska.
How can you possibly defend this position?
No, Palin did the right thing by stepping down.
Palin accomplished more because she did step down.
Perhaps I can make a list of things she did accomplished for this country and then you can make a list of things that weren't accomplished in Alaska.
Or perhaps you can hide behind your empty who-buys-this-stuff remark.
