Bush only thinks of Iraq while the country is being overrun from the south. As a former governor of Texas, he knows full well about the invasion and has no excuses. This is a particularly hot issue and he could easily lose southwestern Republican support if he doesn't tell Fox to stuff it and start securing our borders.
Why bother with Homeland Security when the whole southern border is nothing but a very bad joke? Whole teams of terrorists could come across the border disguised as Mexicans and their odds of being caught would be low. Our Homeland social services and schools are loaded with illegals and paid for by OUR taxes. Bush has to defend the integrity of the Homeland U.S. or else he has failed a primary responsibility.

(If the U.S. is a real country, why doesn't it have real borders?)

I'm sorry to say that the only way to protect our southern border is to make is very clear to Bush that he will not reelected again unless he gets very very serious about this issue and actually does something not just takls about it.
He thinks that he has conservatives sewn up. It's conservatives that he thinks will vote for him anyway that are most concerned about this issue. He is pandering to the Mexicans because they are the swing voters.
He is buying Mexican votes with American national security. That is unconscionable.
