There is virtually NO impediment to non-citizens registering to vote and voting. A couple of years ago, a college student acquaintance of mine recounted the story of a foreign student in her dorm, who was startled to receive a voter registration card in the mail. She certainly hadn't applied for one, and couldn't imagine how she'd happened to get one. With a little investigation, it became clear. She had gotten a driver's license and the state (Pennsylvania) has "motor-voter" in which people can register to vote simultaneously with getting a driver's license just by checking a box. Problem is, this young lady HADN'T registered to vote. Bigger problem is, apparently the staff of the driver's license bureaucracy automatically registers everyone who gets a driver's license (they're union employees, so it's no surprise that they've been instructed to check off that little box if the license applicant "forgot").

I really think vote security is going to be a HUGE issue very soon, and the battle is likely to be a bloody one (to some extent literally).

Both of you mentioned owning land, home or business. It just occurred to me that if we had voting rights defined that way, the Democrats would soon be limiting the size of land that must be owned. Then there would be distribution of tiny plots of land so they could pull more people on board.

Democrats seem to never play by the rules or the spirit of the rules. It's all about power to them.

Wouldn't he lose all of his presidential perks? Don't know that the trashman would want to actually be in a lowly senate seat. A junior senator? He has that big ego to deal with, wants to travel on our nickel, and would only be able to pull in the New Jersey pennies. Not too sure he would go for this.

"Yes, it's such an agonizing ordeal when people have to reach back, take their wallet out of their pocket or purse,
find their driver's license or Social Security card, stick the card back in the wallet,
and stow the wallet. It's cruel and inhumane. "

cruel n inhumane; they can't remember which phoney i.d. they're supposed to use...

"...Democrats seem to never play by the rules or the spirit of the rules..."

100% valid point.

However, my suggestion for returning to something that the the Founding Fathers would be able to recognize is for that period of time when we were rebuilding... after we finished burying the treasonous dead.

Sorry...but that advice in NOT constitutional. While we all may like it...and wish we could amend it to read as such...it is not currently constitutional and an ammendment such as that will never be passed. So...while it is a nice hypothetical suggestion...it has no basis in reality or constitution.

Mrs. Bill Clintoon doesn't want her minions getting confused. When they reach for their wallets, she wants money, not a voter ID card!

"Own a home, or a business, have an honorable discharge from the service, etc.? "

close, but no cigar.
how bout, "do you pay taxes?"...then you can vote.
too many demonRATS vote, but don't pay taxes...
representation without taxation...bassackwards
when you retire....you should stop payin' taxes, but keep on votin'....
all ballots should be printed in ENGLISH...

I won't dismiss the paying taxes/representation argument as unimportant.

It was to the Founding Fathers.

Pretty broad though.

I'd much rather see fewer taxpayers than more voters.
