I don't think the casinos are going to shut down just because some people can't go without a ciggie. People still go out to restaurants and they have a cig outside afterward. What's the big deal? I think anyone who can't wait one hour or two for a cigarette is totally unreasonable and probably has a problem. Any kind of smoke should be kept outside IMO. Even the smoke created in a kitchen needs proper ventilation and and fans directly overhead.

I was playing a slot and this woman sits right next to me blowing smoke on my brand new sweater. The cloud was so bad and thick I could hardly breathe. It was terrible and I had to stop playing and move. That is totally inconsiderate and unreasonable that people have to breath smoke indoors. If I wanted to breath in smoke I would build a campfire and stay home.

If you think, for one minute, that after all these years of having places like restaurants and bars accomodate smokers, and for all of that to stop, we will not take our money back to these places.

It's one thing not to be able to smoke at work. But on our leisure time, and on our dime, we absolutely refuse to spend our money at a place that does not want us. Period.

She has as much right to be there pursuing her pleasures as you do. After all is it "life, liberty and the pursuit of HAPPINESS" that is given to us by the Creator? Guarenteed to us in the Constitution?

Well, Mad, the solution to your problem is self-evident. You need to move upscale. There'll be a lot fewer smokers at $100 baccarat table than at the dollar slots.

As has been well documented, there is a strong inverse relationship between smoking and level of education; between smoking and income levels; and (dare I be so snobbish?) between smoking and social status. No doubt, for example, you've noticed the smoker percentage difference between a place that serves dollar drafts and a place than serves $10 glasses of cabernet. Don't get me wrong, I frequent and enjoy both sorts of places, but the differnce in atmospherics is notable.

The problem's gonna resolve itself, in my opinion. I don't advocate government intervention here, because I truly don't think there's a significant health issue for non-smokers. Stinky sweaters, yes; lung cancer, probably not. But as an ever-greater percentage of the population finally gets a clue, demand for smoke-free environments will increasingly be accommodated.

Annoying huh? Probably as bothersome as the man who sat down to play the slot next to me, as I was smoking, and then started hacking and coughing and asked me not to blow smoke on him. (I wasn't by the way, but I did happen to be directly in front of fan which blew the smoke his way.)

At least one local riverboat has a non-smoking floor. If you don't like smoke, open a non-smoking casino.

What is the problem with letting the individual casinos decide if they want to go smoking or non?

"What's the big deal?"

You my friend are what Karl Marx salivated over. The proverbial "ignorant masses". Once you allow the government that sliver of impostition over a private business and who and how they serve, behave, act, or cater to you might as well socialize everything. Lenin would have been proud of you.

Tell the management. Most casinos have non-smoking areas. But just asking the government to dictate the behavior of businesses to accomodate you is pure communism in the long term, socialism in the short term. Remember what you wish for will eventually impact your life also.
