They'll endorse Davis. They'll start off by going into how Davis needs to clean up his operation so that there isn't a perception of pay-to-play politics, that he needs to focus on the state, do this, do that, but in the end, Davis is more qualified to be Governor because of his experience, and they'll go into why Simon *isn't* qualified using Davis' talking points. They will endorse, and they will endorse Davis, but they'll slap him on the wrist while they're at it.
The only major newspapers (I think some little ones will endorse Simon) that might endorse Simon are the Orange County Register and the San Diego Union Tribune. The only reason I say that about SD is because Davis SCREWED SD in the energy debacle. Maybe a paper in the inland empire as well.
But I don't think people pay much attention to newspaper endorsements.
