So what's your point?

My point (evidently not well made) was that the allegedly regressive tax isn't necessarily regressive, and should not be used as an excuse to increase or initiate additional "progressive" taxes. Excessively high cig taxes will give liberals the cover they need to come after the achievers of society, because the liberals will in effect say that cig taxes fall disproportionately on the poor.
