You are describing the old id

Excuse me, but I had this one renewed in 1998, and it has the holograms. Something none of them ever had in the past 25 years that hubby was active duty.

In fact, I am happy for posting this thread, because I need to go next week to have it renewed again.

No willyone, this is NOT an old ID! I will have this for the rest of my life as a dependent.

He is referring to the new ID for active-duty members. They are now white and have a small computer chip at the bottom. These cards were not available in 1998. I assume from your post that you are a military dependent. That being the case, you do have the latest ID - for dependents. Retirees and dependents will not receive the newest card.
