While 46 states participated in the $246 billion tobacco settlement aimed at punishing the tobacco industry for its contribution to public health problems, several of those states have decided to dump the cash right back into the tobacco industry.
North Carolina, for instance, was awarded $4.6 billion in the multi-state settlement, and politicians promised the money would be used for health care, smoking prevention and steering farmers to alternative crops. But since 1999, 75 percent of the cash has gone back into the production and marketing of North Carolina tobacco.

It was, will be and always has been about THE MONEY!
Once at a car show, I saw a 1933 Pierce-Arrow Silver Arrow.
One of the most beautiful cars built in that era, it was unfortunately developed in the Depression.
With the lack of customers, I don't think they ever made more than a handful.
About the only thing I have to add is that Weasley himself is from a tobacco background.
Either his parents or grandparents owned a big warehouse right here in Rocky Mount.
He grew up on a Nash County tobacco farm.
I've seen cars that look dead stock on the outside and pack 500-hp V8s.
I just don't agree with the top chopping everybody does.
They aren't making anymore of those cars and the modifications should be reversible.
Don't get me wrong - I like hot rods too.
Especially if the car was not a pristine example to begin with.
I have a 1955 Chevy wagon that I will NOT hotrod. The car has less than 90k actual miles and is in mostly original shape except for the paint.
OTOH, I have a 1969 Chevy truck that has some rust that I DO plan to hotrod. They made a bazillion of them anyway.
The engine would also be replaced.
One of these days I'll get my hands on it.
