INS APPREHENSION INFORMATION

Date Range: 09/12/2001 To 05/31/2002

Since September 11th, the INS has apprehended 796,383 illegal aliens attempting to enter the US, or already inside the US.

Some of these apprehensions are what we call recidivist apprehensions (person apprehended more than once in the reporting period).

First we will subtract the recidivist apprehensions from the total apprehensions. 796,383 - 305,880 = 490,503.

This gives our base figure of apprehensions. This figure is not 100% accurate, as some apprehensions go unreported and some of the recidivist hits may be the same person several times over.

So, since September 11th, the INS apprehended approximately 490,503 illegal aliens either attempting to enter the US, or already in the US.

The Border Patrol estimates that they apprehend only 20% of the illegals crossing into the United States. That means 4 illegals get through for every one apprehended.

Independent Immigration experts estimate that the Border Patrol apprehends only 10% of the illegals crossing into the United States. That means 9 illegals get through for every one apprehension.

For this presentation, I will use the INS estimate of 20%.

So, if the INS apprehended 490,503 illegal aliens since September 11th, the number of illegals that made it into the United States undetected would be approximately 1,962,012, although it could be as high as 4,414,527.

Now for some more disturbing figures.

US and Allied troops that invaded Normandy in 1944 = 250,000+
US troops that invaded Okinawa in 1945 = 550,000+
Illegal aliens that have invaded the United States since September 11th = 1,962,012+

This is an average of over 7,488 illegal aliens entering the United States undetected daily and it could be as high as 16,849 daily.

Now for the scary numbers.

The INS has apprehended over 500 people from known terrorist countries, attempting to enter the United States since September 11th.

Using the same calculations as above, it is possible that over 2,000 people from known terrorist countries have illegally entered the United States, undetected, since September 11th.

Who are they and where are they?

Just food for thought.

With the INS's track record, it wouldn't surprise me if this figure was low. With a good portion of the U.S.'s security in the INS's hands, this is quite scary indeed!

The number may very well be low, but on the other it could high also. The majority of the folks crossing the border are from Mexico and even though we have apprehended over 500 people from Middle Eastern countries, it is impossible to guess the nationality of the ones that get through.

It is possible that these were the only ones, but it is unlikely.

Also, remember that the problems with the INS are with management and the past and current immigration policy, not the troops in the field.

When you consider that illegals are sending between $6 and $9 BILLION south to the Mexican economy each year, no wonder President Fox insists that borders (south to north, not north to south, of course) be open.

And soon, very soon, if not in the next few months then definitely soon after the November elections, President Bush is going to be pushing strongly for 245(i) Amnesty for Illegals.

Bad as this, it's not the entire picture.

One more cause for conceren is the fact of so many foreign nationals working in our foreign embassies who expedite passports and visas for who knows what terrorist and spy.

The enemy is potentially within our own gates, with SECURITY CLEARANCES, no less!

It is low. As a person tasked with actually hunting these people on the border, I have to laugh whenever I see that only four get away for every one that is caught. That is pure bullsh*t. We keep track of the number of people that get away along the border. I have seen tangible evidence that the number of aliens getting away is far higher than 4 to 1. When we catch 100 aliens in a specific area, yet there are a thousand unaccounted footprints in the sand we can surmise that a thousand people got away.

Believe me, I know it's the beauracracy that is causing the ineffectiveness of the INS to apprehend illegals. I respect you guys in the field and empathize with your frustration due to weak support from the hierarchy. It needs fixin' and it needs fixin' bad.

I have a good one for ya. I 've just been detailed to Eureka, Montana to patrol the Canadian Border. While at work my buddy brought up an interesting point. On the southern border, when the Border Patrol apprehends a Guatamalan, the US foots the bill to ship him back to his country. When the Canadians apprehend a Guatamalan they turn him over to the US, so we can foot the bill to send him back to his country. Isn't that nice.

We have American consular officers that hand out visas at our Embassies. Of course, that may not mean anything.

All passports and visa are approved and issued by US citizens. While there are foreign nationals at the Embassies, some with clearances, they do not approve the passport or visa.

You beat my to the punch Ajnin.

Yeah, that was an easy one. I used to work for the Consular General in Cairo. I was constantly amused watching the Marines forcibly remove people from the office. It seemed like it happened on a weekly basis.

And I'm sure along with these visas and consular matriclua's and bennies, we present them with an english/spanish copy of our Great Constitution and info on attending classes on citizenship. Or is the new Constitution still being printed up.

Your figures reveal your agenda...

I notice you left out the info on how many of our newest Illegals are future Republicans... Why was that?

Seriously, just be patient, and President Bush will come up with a solution we're all proud of.

No, seriously.
