Conservatives disapprove of the job he's doing, liberals disapprove of the job he's doing but 76% of the American people approve of the job he's doing.

It seems Mr. Bush stands in the center along with most Americans. That's why he appears too liberal for most conservatives and too conservative for most liberals.

By the way, I stand with the conservatives who think he is too liberal but I'm not willing to give up on Bush for now.

What would it take?

And how much liberalism is the right amount?

The problem is these polls are poor predictors.
Think about it. Few conservatives who oppose Bush's liberal policies would say so in a generic poll. Teh reason is that the poll question is "Do you aprove of President Bush's performance." It doesn't say on XY and Z.
Moreover, an increase in negative numbers would push Bush to the left since conservatives are not differentiated from liberals.

Real polls with a vlaue other than shaping public opinion to the desire of the Media-Government complex would ask aabout set of policy questions and then allow the consitituents to pick among multple answers.

The problem with this poll, as with most polls, is that it is idiotic: we have no idea exactly what it is people approve about the job Bush is doing, and what it is, if anything, they dislike about it.

It is akin to calling someone on the phone and asking them what the weather is outside, and they say: Oh...we had a nice day today. This, versus calling a meterologist in the same locale and getting all the various readings at his disposal.

I dislike polls in general, but think that at least polls that ask specific questions have at least *some* nominal value; this poll does not, in my opinion.

There are certainly things I am upset with....especially the farm bill recently and CFR of old. But, I still believe he has done a lot of good and continues to do so. There was something fairly recently I was proud of IIRC, though it has slipped my mind. My main concern is the Supreme Court...if he gets a conservative majority in there for the first time in decades that is good enough for me even if he spends like nuts all the rest of his days.

Polls show Bush with a much higher approval rating among Republicans and conservatives;

"Bush's job approval rating among Republicans is in the low 90s and a bit higher among strong Republicans, according to an Ipsos-Reid poll and others.

Georgia Republican Chairman Ralph Reed said most conservatives he talks to are quite content ``the ball is clearly moving in the right direction.'' That gives the GOP the latitude to reach out more on health care, education and other issues, he said."

I would rather cheer for the Red Wings to win the Stanley Cup. I like watching real men at work.
