sinkspur is the official internet greeter for FR and 10,000,000 other web sites. He maintains tallies upon how folks think as opposed to realizing how far he has succumbed in debate and more importantly in wit and imagination. I greet them at the door, and Buckeroo pours them a drink, right Buckeroo?
After you've had one or two yourself.

That's where I am. Taps fingers....;-) Can Ashcroft do anything? Heck, Reno re-wrote the law so much it read "kill Christians through the power of the ATF".

We didn't know how long World War II would take until the Japanese threw in the towel. Ditto for the Civil War, World War I, Korea, Vietnam, and even Desert Storm.
I can't decide whether this last post was a red herring or a nice job creating a boogeyman.

For you to scornfully imply that he is lieing is simply beyond decency. -- Apologise, if you have ANY honor left. He's not lying; he's naive. No apologies are necessary.

Howard's a good man.

At the time of his approach to Red China, Richard Nixon (a REPUBLICAN for those of you from Rio Linda) was approached by an internationalist businessman who was literally salivating over the prospect of access to the BILLIONS of potential Chinese slave laborers and customers (although this rocket scientist had apparently not yet concluded that the Chinese people would be hard pressed to buy his stuff without MONEY!!!!). This businessman was concerned that Nixon had been SAYING that he was cooling to the idea of an opening to Red China to quell the uprising within the then very much more America-First rank and file Republican Party.
As reported years later, Nixon told the businessman
DONT LISTEN TO WHAT WE SAY: WATCH WHAT WE DO!"
AS YOU READ THIS, IT APPEARS THAT BUSH, DASCHLE AND OTHERS ARE WELL DOWN THE ROAD TO USING THIS PAGE FROM THE NIXON PLAYBOOK!
IT APPEARS THAT DUBYA -- LIKE NIXON (and numerous others) BEFORE HIM --IS DOING US (IN MORE WAYS THAN ONE).
Look, America the IDEA not the PLACE can only continue to exist if we heed the advice of the founding fathers (paraphrased here in the current vernacular for residents of Rio Linda), to wit:
The Founding Fathers have determined that failure to WATCH politicians ALL POLITICIANS (even those you may worship!) is dangerous to the security of this nation and to the freedoms we paid such a heavy price to TRY to leave you and your children.
Government is not reason. Government is not eloquence. It is FORCE. And, like fire, it is a DANGEROUS SERVANT AND A FEARSOME MASTER.
That from that notorious tinfoil hat wearing, radical wing-nut, George Washington.

Yeah, I think you may be right. There are lots of things I disagreed with Bush on but I always thought he was honorable. Now I'm disappointed. His oath means no more than Clinton's did.

While it would be nice to imagine some scenario where Bush is a hero stuck in a terribly difficult spot because of those dastardly Democrats, that just isn't the case. He simply caved on this issue - there's no way around it.

Congress and the President have over-stepped their Constituional authority by ensuring these "open-ended" wars; you don't appear to recognise that they are stripping you of your rights, liberties and freedoms unconstituionally. Beep, beep, beep... Credibility alert, credibility alert. You stay with some of these cats long enough the real agenda rears it's ugly head.
To: sinkspur
Hey! Don't let out our little secret, will ya?
To: Buckeroo
The so-called, "War on Terror" is a violation of the US Constitution as it leaves an indefinite time period about the same warHorseshit, next.
To: hchutch
Well done! You have shown that our nation is no longer based upon the Constitution. Our nation is based upon mere Congressional legislation with a thug in the White House.
They used to say Clinton was pornographic; but it appears his predessor is more so.
To: Congressman Billybob
Who will issue the first legal challenge and how quickly can it get to the Supreme Court?
To: sinkspur
The words are important because they give us a way around them. Yeah. Kinda like what the meaning of "is", is. Sounds painfully familiar.
To: DJ88
But...something in the 2nd part of his statement has got me thinking. You know that feeling when you're trying to come up with a word and it's right on the tip of your tongue but you still are stumped? "Like many Republicans and Democrats in the Congress, I support common-sense reforms to end abuses in our campaign finance system. The reforms passed today, while flawed in some areas, still improve the current system overall, and I will sign them into law.
The legislation makes some important progress on the timeliness of disclosure, individual contribution limits, and banning soft money from corporations and labor unions, but it does present some legitimate constitutional questions. I continue to believe the best reform is full and timely disclosure of campaign contributions."
Now, I wonder what would be disclosed??? Enron? Global Crossing? Cuba? China? NAACP tax exempt? NEA tax exempt? ALL TAX EXEMPT MUST BE NOTED?
To: kristinn
The words are important because they give us a way around them.
Is that a quote from Marx or Lenin ?Clinton.
To: doug from upland
It can't go the court until it is law which by coincidence happens one day after the next election and the construction of the 20soft million dollar rathouse in DC.
To: jwalsh07
You are a friggin' nutcase. Article I, section 8:
To declare War, grant Letters of Marque and Reprisal, and make Rules concerning Captures on Land and Water; To raise and support Armies, but no Appropriation of Money to that Use shall be for a longer Term than two Years;"
To: Uncle Bill
Thanks. I'm not suprised or alarmed.
Those pesky ants in the kitchen v. the elephants in the living room.
