An Eagle Scout who was mistaken for a bank robber and shot in the face by an FBI agent in Pasadena on Friday remained in serious but stable condition at Maryland Shock Trauma Center last night.

Joseph Charles Schultz, 20, was shot at close range about 6 p.m. Friday when FBI agents searching for a bank robbery suspect pulled over his girlfriend's car.

Schultz, who lives in the 7900 block of Seabreeze Drive in Orchard Beach in Anne Arundel County and works with fiber optics for a local medical company, has no connection to the bank robbery, officials said.

Does anyone else here think that this might have something to do with the restructuring of this and other goverment agencies during the last administration?

I wouldn't pull over for any unmarked car. Where were the local police? Shouldn't they be doing the law enforcement in the area?

They were busy catching the real crooks. While the Fed cops were shooting Boy Scouts in the face, the locals caught the real perps.

Because I used to train policemen, and "others" in the use of exotic weapons- as well as the more mundane, I used to fall more on the side of giving LE officers the benefit of the doubt.

But there are just too many incidents like this to that anymore. And too much un-accountability. And the trend seems to be towards more and more incidents like this. It is very bothersome.

Where is the outrage? - Why, even here on FR, are so many willing to run cover for these thugs

Because the prevalent attitude is becoming "government are good, citizen are bad". If they have a uniform or a government sanctioned gun, they're given a pass now, while we continue to be groped, searched, spied on, interrogated and shot at whim.

But its all right, right? I mean hey, safety before liberty, right brother, right?

Bunch of thugs who try to rule and a bunch of half alive cowards who let them.

Who's running cover? I just advised that everyone should remember not to do anything stupid or threatening when stopped by the police. I think this case is just absolutely outrageous if everything is as stated, but we don't know much about it yet. I don't think anyone is covering for the FBI.

Jesus. Thanks for the ping.

Obviously these guys need MORE power: sneak-and-peek, roaming wiretaps and warrants.

Good question. I get the distinct impression that many of the self-appointed apologists for the State will still be in denial as they're walking up the ramps into the cattle-cars.

The individual church, or the denomination?

The only legitimate function of government is to protect individual rights and private property rights. The FBI for the most part provides valuable services in that regard. In instances such as this the best thing the FBI can do for both its name and the citizens is to strongly encourage the Joseph Schultz's immediate family to press charges against the agent that killed Schultz so as to take the mater before the court and impartial jury.

Abiding honest principles begets objective law and just resolutions which should be the rule rather than abide by the rule of authority. Abiding rule-by-authority does not ensure honest justice. Abiding honest principles ensures honest justice.

either/or is the correct answer! the FB&I has been "surveying" churches for several years;the agency has refused to say why such activities are deemed necessary.

that's just ONE reason that the FB&I should be ABOLISHED and the jobs turned back to the 50 states.

I, for one, am very outraged.

Also, one doesn't have to be black or latino to be a victim of trigger-happy fascism.

I heard it was once upon a time. But then, much of what I "learned" about this nation's history has turned out to be nothing more than mushroom food.

You know what they feed mushrooms don't you?

And where they grow 'em?

I wonder if these old boys, girls and its were looking the other way while old Joe Kennedy was amassing a fortune when the "legal dope" was illegal......

Yeah, I feel all safe and cozy from the threat of terrorists with the F.B.I. protecting me. No worries here.
