MSNBC: Ari Fleischer To Blast Clinton Administration At 12:30
MSNBC | 2-28-02 | My Favorite Headache

Posted on 02/28/2002 7:30:09 AM PST by My Favorite Headache

Just heard a news break from Rick Sanchez saying the Bush administration is going to hold the Clinton administration responsible for pressing peace talks in a volatile situation that they knew would result in more violence against Israel beginning in 2000....more to follow during briefing. But apparently Ari is going to have something big to say on this and where the U.S. is going to go with the situation in Israel and the war on terrorism.

"WHY is the "Jewish vote" so overwhelmingly for LEFTIST DEMOCRATS?"

'Rich Elite Control', unprincipled greed? God of 'Law', not the 'Law of God'. -- Look at 'Global Crossing', not Enron, IMHO.

You have to keep in mind that many Jews are not Orthodox Jews, and many are even agnostic and atheist.

It doesn't matter which side assassinates him. We all know will get the blame. Seen the Gallup poll of Muslims? They don't even believe their own were involved in 9-11. Even Kuwaitis hate us and we saved their asses a decade ago.

Even if the Palis do in Arafat, they'll turn around and blame Israel and the Arab world will accept it without questioning and use it as "proof" that Isreal needs to be exterminated. I'm totally serious. It will be worse than 1967. The weapons are much nastier now.

Figures...the search engine here is still not up to snuff...thanks veronica...

The White House on Thursday blamed aggressive diplomacy by former President Clinton for the current violence in the Middle East, saying Clinton pushed Israelis and Palestinians too hard "in an attempt to shoot the moon and get nothing."

White House spokesman Ari Fleischer rejected the notion that President Bush's policies have not worked, noting that the violence began while Clinton was still in office. And he turned aside the idea of talking with Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat as Clinton did, saying Bush does not want to create false expectations.

Clinton tried to "push the parties beyond where they were willing to go," Fleischer said. "It led to expectations raised to such a high level that it turned to violence."

During his last months in office, Clinton was heavily engaged in pressing Arafat and former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak to strike an accord, but his intensive diplomacy failed. Fleischer said neither side was ready to agree, and the intensity and breakneck pace set by Clinton "led to expectations raised to such a high level that it turned to violence."

"You can make the case that in an attempt to shoot the moon and get nothing, more violence resulted," Fleischer said. "The parties didn't want to agree to what the United States was pushing for.

"It is important to be careful in the region, to proceed at a pace that is achievable and doable, and not to raise people's expectations falsely too high," Fleischer said. "The failure to reach that level created unmet expectations."

Israel, the West Bank and Gaza have been wracked by violence for 17 months and it continued Wednesday, when Israeli troops killed four Arabs in gunbattles and, separately, a Palestinian worker shot an Israeli factory manager to death.

This week, the crown prince of Saudi Arabia floated an idea for ending the violence and renewing peace talks. Both Israel and the Palestinians have expressed interest in the Saudi proposal, though the Israelis reject a main element -- withdrawal from all of the West Bank, Gaza Strip and east Jerusalem. The Saudis suggest that in exchange, the entire Arab world would make peace with Israel. Bush also likes the Saudi plan, but continues to press Arafat to rein in militants with more arrests.

"The most concrete thing the president is looking for (from Arafat) is a 100 percent effort to stop the violence," Fleischer said. "The president wants to make sure people are detained on a long-term permanent basis, not on a temporary revolving-door basis."

"do you think we might get a double shot against the dim's? Ari hitting the Clinton's and Daschle for his comments?"

Oh gosh...I sure hope so...you think it just might be the number of calls that the WH is getting in response to CFR that has gotten them to take the white gloves off and FIGHT BACK? That if WE are not willing to sit around on our butts and take it, then they should STAND UP AND SHOUT IT FROM THE MOUNTAINTOP?????

I hope Rick Sanchez doesn't choke on his lunch. Or...you know....that will all be blamed on a VRWC.

Well Fox News is not where I go anymore. I seem to find MSNBC to be a serious powerhouse more so than CNN or FOX. AllNewsChannel is a joke as well. I just tune out the total bias and just check out the visuals and the lightning quick breaking news from MSNBC.

It is about time that GW took off the gloves. The RATS have been attacking him and his administration for days.

If you heard anything that the addled Senator Howlings (D-SC) had to say yesterday about how Bush somehow financed the 9/11 attacks through tax breaks to Enron, you can easily see just how desparate the socialist left is becoming to pin everything on capitalism and conservatives. It is totally disgusting and outrageous but the liberal mind will believe anything that their elitist rulers tell them.

Arafat is probably more at risk of being capped by his own as some of the more radicals see him as standing in the way of overrunning the Israeli's. Whereas the Israeli's kind of like having him around as he can easily be used as the scapegoat.

The Clintons are have been known to invite themselves. When did Hillary start having education as a priority?
