I haven't found a website for Spectrum Design, but did google him and came up with a bunch of business/computer design classes being taught by a David Westerfield at San Diego State. (Extension, evening classes.) Also, local news has said that Brenda just started selling books to libraries.

I am thinking that is a different David Westerfield at SDSU.

By the way there is an email address (through yahoo) showing a David Westerfield near Dallas, where the van Dams used to live.

I didn't know the FBI was involved. They get involved if the search crosses state or international borders? Is there any evidence of Westerfield going outside the boundries he initially stated?

The only new item I have heard locally in the last 48 hours is the rumor that police are awaiting DNA test results to make a possible arrest.

Presumably that means Westerfield, and not stoner orgy porgie orgasm chasing stranger banging child neglecting Mom and Dad.

ONE OTHER THEORY......

Bump to a quick resolution. I am with you that the Satanic Ritual Abuse connection is bizarre, but history shows that certain dates can not be ignored...this kidnapping was either retaliation, remuneration (of some strange kind?) or strictly random. I am leaning toward the first two more and more. For it to have been random, the perp would have to know at a minimum the following details:

PARENTS ARE IN GARAGE, and not in the house??  How could a random perp have such knowledge. Lucky guess, no way, they are too shrewd.  What about.....

1. Alarm will not work, or will be ignored.
2. Rottweiler is tame, and can't bark.
3. Intimate knowledge/layout of the house, 4000Sq feet is bigger than most track homes....
4. No trail for dogs...
5. Parents were "indisposed, very late, very long time" Note that the timeline of the Van Dams has varied, reported by LE in San Diego.

 After the "gang" left around 3 A.M., LE is expected to believe that the VD's just cleaned up, locked up and headed to bed? What if kids need water or bathroom during the night, are they forbidden? Stay in room at all cost, Kids, that is an order?? 

I don't buy it, not for one minute. A "stay-home" mom is always overly protective, and she would have checked on the brood before calling it a night. She was gone early (6 P.M.) off to dinner, then dancing, then "the parking lot episode" then back home for the garage party.....and not once did she check in on her children....I am telling you TM, if San Diego LE cracks this, it will be revolting. But these types are amazingly cunning, crafty and without remorse. If they stick to their planned story, and if they have planted enough dirty evidence on Westerfield for LE to find, then they may walk....too bad there are other kids...maybe males mean more than females with these types....I think the main reason why the VD's are not denying and protesting the SWNG LIFESTYLE any louder, is that they know many will say, "Oh, well they were doing that, we don't want to be judgmental" and all the while, it is a diversion.  Hope I am way off base.....

I have friends and relatives living in the San Diego area. One of which is a consulting engineer in the tech field. He makes about $120k a year, travels quite a bit, paid big bucks for a modest home, and has a stay at home wife and a few kiddos.

San Diego is an expensive place to live..but usually those who live there draw a salary to prove it.
