Prayers requested during week of 2/10/02
Happy Valentine's Day. The first and greatest love of all
This is for my boss who is starting chemo today for Multiple Myeloma. He will be in the hospital through Monday and expects to be back at work Tuesday. He will be doing this once a month for about 5 months. I understand this can be a pretty bad cancer and hope he will make it through. He just started here in September. His name is Bill.
Father, many requests have been posted for healing. I ask that You consider each request and answer every plea for help. Send skill and intuition to physicians, arrange circumstances and people so that Your will may be carried out in each case. Give hope and faith to each person, and touch the hearts of those that have not trusted in You or Your Son.
Father, I wish to thank You again for one very, very special person. Thank You that faith and trust has been placed in You, and that this person will enjoy with all of us Your great blessings for all eternity. Look into my heart and see my gratitude for all the other things as well, Abba.
Of Jesus and through His mighty name I have asked these things and given thanks to You, Almighty God...Amen!
I thank You for all that You have done and will continue to do. I thank You for the love You showed us through Your Son, Jesus Christ. Watch over us, protect us as You see fit. I ask these things because I know it is Your Will as You have shown us through Your Word. In Christ's Name. Amen
And now I will show you the most excellent way. If I speak in the tongues of men and angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophesy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil, but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails. But where there are prophesies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away... (I Cor 13:1-8)
And now these three things remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. (I Cor 13:13)
Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of love, for without it our lives would be dismal and hopeless at best. Thank You that love inspires us to become better than we are, to reach farther than we have ever reached before, to believe and trust in seemingly impossible things. Thank You, Father!
Dearest Father, as Love itself, You understand the tenderness in our hearts for our loved ones. Protect them, Dear Lord, and keep them ever safe; ever in Your good keeping and care. Bless them, guide them, and give each of us a greater capacity to love with each passing day. In Jesus' name I ask these things...Amen!
