I'm glad you are proud to be conservative and republican. I am proud to be conservative and will continue voting for conservatives. Elected republicans are being beaten again though...by the liberal statists...
Where is the gop leadership on this issue?
To: B. A. Conservative
TERM LIMITS You have it exactly right and you state it with eloquence. Often it is said that government is a necessary evil. While much is said about the wrongs of government, hardly ever is government described as an evil beast.Governmrnt is the evil beast and career politicians are the living beating heart of that beast. As long as that heart is allowed to beat, our freedoms shall wither. I think the only way to strict term limits is going to come by way of Constitutional Convention and the road to that convention shall run red with the blood of many.

OK, if and this is a big IF this passes on to the whitehouse and if (IF) the ussc doesn't strike it down.
What do we do? How do we get around this? There has to be a loophole somewhere.

Hey D-head...i just explained my rather complex political identity...if you must be personal - prepare to be more than slightly highlighted as a small thinker...I'm sorry you cant compartmentalize Party identity and polital thought and processes.

Shays is speaking now, praising Dick Gephardt for not making CFR a partisan issue.

Where is the gop leadership on this issue? I've been looking for it too, but somehow Bush gets everything he wants. He'll get tax relief, too.
To: concerned about politics
PS...Bush is as gentle as a dove, but as wise as a serpant.
If he signs this bill, there's something in it that will hang the DNC. If it's there, Bush will find it.
He has VERY experienced people on his staff. They've seen all this before.

Heck Laz.....it's ALREADY being done illegally and legally. Remember what happened to people and entities that spoke out against the Sick Slick and Hitlery? Audits for all.....and it was apparently legal. The politicians right now...let the PC police among us...control, steer, harass, moderate, repress, coerce, GOVERN....our speech NOW..!!

There has to be a loophole somewhere. More like freeway underpasses. EVERYONE will be able to drive a tractor-trailer rig through them (including us).
But the bill still stinks to high heaven.

Please show me...when this become a 'conservative
Republican' site?
Here is what is says on the front page of the site.
"Free Republic is an online gathering place for independent, grass-roots conservatism on the web. We're working to roll back decades of governmental largesse, to root out political fraud and corruption, and to champion causes which further conservatism in America."
Where does that say Republican?

Not being the brightest bulb on the tree, how so?

Independent isn't a party - I was speaking about financial contributions. I'd can't fathom the thought of losing the House. Have you thought about who would control the major committees: Rangel will chair Ways and Means, Conyers or Barney Frank would chair Judiciary - those alone should put the fear of God into any Conservative!

There are forms of communication we and others can use that will never pass under the umbrella of this type of legislation.
There is no way the Supremes are going to stop us from running a printing press, for example.

Please tell me when it became the NRA's job to preserve, protect and defend the consitution and not the president's? It is the president of the United States job to preserve, protect and defend, correct? That oath meant something, right?

"What do we do? How do we get around this? There has to be a loophole somewhere."
The same way we will get around it when they pass laws to confiscate our firearms, and when they make the anti-prolife laws fit with much tougher teeth and when Hillary care comes into being and you need heart bypass surgery but will be standing in line and waiting a few years. We will break the laws and become criminals and go to jail or be fined of everything we have. This is where this takes us.
The elite have become that much more elite. The peasant class has become that much more of the peasant class. (There is no middle class any more). The peasants can no longer ban together to fight the monster. That's what this means. It has torn the heart out of the American political process and when the heart goes, the nation goes. We just haven't issued the death certificate yet - but America is DEAD if President Bush does not veto this outrageous piece of garbage.
To: Alissa
LOL, I didnt say I was abandoning conservatism...and I dont think I called possibly changing from gop to Independent a move to a new Party - but merely being an Independent.
However, I am old fashioned in that I think republicans should act as republicans to get my support.
To: kattracks
One has to hope that the Republican stratagy is to allow the bill to pass. And then for the President to sign... stating his reservation regarding his concern for free speach.
Then to be challanged, sending it to SCOTUS with the hope of having it striken down as unconstitutional. Thereby allowing the Pres to collect politcal points and giving him a more powerful platform to redesign the bill acording to his time-tabel and removing that hairy beast from the media's grasp of control.
To: Godfollow
Where does the DNC get all their money? If unions can't give, special interest groups can't give, businesses can't give....where will they get THEIR money?
To: concerned about politics
It won't matter. The DNC will get the 60 days of press coverage from the media.
