I don't mean to be defending or condeming either the parents or the suspect, but parents in the midst of tragic events & being interviewed on tv don't always appear to be reacting like others 'think' they should. These parents, no matter what kind of people they are, are in shock & are on uncharted emotional territory. You can't know from their demeanour on tv what is going on in their heads right now.

If you don't believe that these parents have, at the least, allowed their daughter to be vulnerable, I don't understand your reasoning.
Unless the stories of "swinging", swapping, et al, are lies, they should cause a logical person to pause. The fact that the van Dam's apparent vice revolves around sexual perversion makes this situation highly suspicious.
