The FBI wanted to shut down a Muslim charity that had been identiifed as a terrorist front group five years ago but was stopped by the Clinton administration.
In Dec. 2001 federal agents seized the assets of the Holy Land Foundation, which bills itself as the nation's largest Muslim charity, after announcing it had been caught funneling funds to the notorious Palestinaian terrorist group Hamas.
But, according to U.S. News & World Report's "Washington Whispers":
"FBI veterans tell our David E. Kaplan that they were ready to move on the group back in 1997 but were stopped by top officials at Justice and the Clinton White House." "They didn't want to come off as Muslim bashers," a source close to the investigation told the magazine.
Unnoted by U.S. News, then-first lady Hillary Clinton also feted Muslim supporters of Hamas at the White House. Her Senate campaign repeatedly raised money from groups with ties to Mideast terrorists - sometimes in secret - and disguised one contribution from the American Muslim Council as a donation from "the American Museum Council" in a Federal Election Commission filing.

--I am starting to agree with that assessment. I honestly don't see gw being given real data all the time. I think his string gets pulled on certain matters. Hmm, I think ALL the presidents get manipulated to some degree actually.

More of this will attempted to be spun into other things. The attacks on the 2002 Rats (for anti-stimulus) by the conservatives will eventually be be denounced for using the flag. Who knows how Hillary will handle her problems, maybe too many people hate her.

Unfortunately the national security of the United States of America was never a concern of clinton or anyone in his administration. That goes for the junior senator from New York as well as her many fellow travellers in the congress.

IMHO money alone would not override his antipathy to this great country.

Thanks for the heads up on the pulled reply. Freerepublic is such a great source of information that is not available from the mainstream press, it is sometimes easy to forget that the webmaster has his own agenda, as we all do, I suppose. Make no doubt, there are limits placed on the information that can be shared here. It is still one of the best alternatives to the propaganda machine called mainstream media.
Maybe it is time to change the FR Wecome message.
Free Republic is an online gathering place for independent, grass-roots conservatism on the web. We're working to roll back decades of governmental largesse, to root out political fraud and corruption, and to champion causes which further conservatism in America.
May I suggest: "to root out Democratic political fraud and corruption. Republican fraud and corruption is okay."
