Now, this doesn't say what I think it says, does it? Has Bush made a final decision on this, or is it just that he "halted" the money and we're still waiting to see how it turns out?

Sorry.

If Red China wants to murder babies, let them pay for it themselves, not us.

The PRI has campaigned to persuade Congress that the UN agency is ineligible for US financing because it supports abortion services abroad. US law prohibits grants of federal funds to any organisation involved in providing abortions overseas, and Mr Bush, in one of his first official acts, made clear that he - unlike President Clinton - would respect the restriction.

I'm happy with this decision either way. It respects our LAW and it respects human life. And I RESPECT our President for doing the right thing! GOD BLESS PRESIDENT BUSH!!!!!!

Nah... no way.

Any moment now our bush bashers masquerading as pro life proponents, will be here to explain why this means nothing, just like the classification of fetii as persons so the mothers can get health care in lieu of opting to "end it all".

Somehow they will find a way to call this "baby killing" using recirculating reconstrution of the reality the rest of us call truth.

Fact is, President Bush is the most proactive "pro life" president we have ever had, and short of outlawing accepted forms of birth control, he will move in the direction of life like this, incrementally as the heart of the nation changes.

It matters not, to those who hate the man, NO WORKS are good enough to merit a word of praise, and painting him as an evil man who wants abortion to continue, will be the rule not the exception.

They should be arriving any moment now.

China's foreign ministry told The Telegraph that the US had not made the "correct choice".

A most interesting choice of words.

Two weeks ago they were sqawking about the so called 'bugs' planted in the plane, now this claptrap. Same old same old.....Maybe all that stuff worked with X42 but surely President Bush will not be amused or apologetic.

Either way, I just emailed the President, thanking him. Thanks for posting this report.

Um, excuse me, but this is infuriating. How many Chinese people pay income taxes to fund US programs? The dems keep saying we need to tax more so we can afford this war; I say if we cut off the rest of the world we'll have more than enough money to take care of all US interests. This isn't our problem.

Um. What's so weak about the Chinese economy that they should be recieving funds from the UN?

The only time I ever went in a Walmart it seemed like 80% of everything there was made in China.China has plenty of cash.

Beijing is furious with Mr Bush,

Since when can China can be furious with us giving them MONEY? Too many foreigners expecting that we're supposed to work for them.

I shouldn't be surprised though, we have that same mind-set here in America.

A DECISION by President Bush to suspend £24 million of United States funding to a United Nations body accused of assisting forced abortions in China is threatening to cloud his visit to Beijing this month. By withholding the money from the UN Fund for Population Activities (UNFPA), Mr Bush has made clear his opposition to China's extreme population control methods. Beijing is hoping to extend the controls, which restrict the majority of couples to one child, for another generation. Beijing is furious with Mr Bush, who has been swayed by reports implicating the UNFPA in abuses of the one-child policy. ...

Gee, I thought the Chinese were such proud people. I did not know that they were begging for US handouts to do their dirty deeds. What happenned to the 5000 year history and the vision to rule the world? This must really put a dent in their self esteem - I wonder how borghead is coping.
