Several media outlets reported (citing access to classified information)that the original target of Flight 93 was Three Mile Island.

All the more reason to thank God for the actions of Todd Beamer and his fellow passengers.

If they ship cargo, isn't it plausible that terrorist could 'ship' themselves? Are cargo packages x-rayed? It sounds dumb, but then again, so did boxcutters.

I whole heartedly agree that a direct impact on a containment facility would do little but scratch the paint. But, outside the containement, there are LOTS of things that don't like jet airplanes. While the impact on the Containment would not result in a radioactive leak, it is MOST likely that the facility in question would be offline for an indeterminate length of time. THAT would affect the economy as the production of eletricity is kinda vital to commerce, wouldn't ya say????

If the terrorists had accomplices on the ground who may have been able to place boxcutters on an airplane, what makes us so sure that hole has been plugged?

I don't know but you'd think two Aggies like us could figure it out.

Don't worry, if anyone on one of my flights attempts anything, I'm going to be on them. And I suspect I'll have lots of company.

Put some Patriots around each nuke plant and shoot down anything that flies with 5 miles of them.

Hope they don't attack on Sunday. The Patriots will all be in New Orleans.

This is information received this AM at a classified briefing by a source that I trust without any reservation.

I'm more than a little tempted to report a security violation.

The Pilots are in a cabin and they have a separate breathing system. I don't see any way to commandeer a commercial airline full of passengers again.

Unless you're the pilot.

Believe it or not....way back when -- some crazy decided to hijack a plane and circle around Oak Ridge's nuclear reactor. He was a former employee (this was maybe 30 years ago - before airport security).

Eventually he didn't do it....but DOE commissioned a study on what was the worst that could happen. In most cases...it wasn't too bad. Especially if there was time to shut down the reactor.

The next plane attack will not come from a hijacking, it will be made by a bonafide pilot, probably from an international airlines. (Like flight 800?)

Oooohhh....I wish you hadn't have said that. That's probably the most successful way to pull it off. Who knows how international airlines screen their pilots?

My problem with all this is: they're inside our nation's borders. We can only stay on hyped up alert for so long for this particular threat. If they think the situation is too tense they can just lay back in the tall grass and wait. They don't even have to change their plan.

That's what's f*cked up about this war we're in. The enemy is among us and they're using our Bill of Rights to their advantage. I'm not calling for suspension of our rights (before anyone thrashes me for it)- rather just saying it like it is. So this post falls more under the comments rather than suggestions. My only suggestion would be a complete moratorium on immigration from med-high risk nations and even those who are "technically" from allied nations (example: German- born offspring of Saudi immigrants to Germany). Stay alert!

I really don't know. It has never been a priority with me. But it IS a large scale maintenance facility for Northwest Airlines and there are aircraft sitting everywhere.
