West Side Story was composed by a known homosexual.

Are you referring to
the composer of the music -- Leonard Bernstein.
the writer of the lyrics -- Stephen Sondheim
the writer of the libretto -- Arthur Laurents
the 'creative intelligence', the director/choreographer -- Jerome Robbins
the writer of the source -- William Shakespeare.

The broadway musical is a collaborative form, like opera, so has no single composer. (The music of West Side Story has a composer, of course, Leonard Bernstein.

"Composed" presumably refers to the composer, Leonard Bernstein, who was a homosexual. Probably pollwatcher was suggesting that there could be a clash between two grievance identity groups - those seeking sacrosanct status for gays, and those seeking it for "hispanics" (whatever that means).

I'm referring to Lenny, of Course. The others could be candidates. The song "Somewhere" has been made into a gay anthem at some events.

Just stirring up trouble! :-)
