It's win-win-win for them. Either the House GOPs shoots down the bill in a roll-call vote, in which case the Rats get to demagogue the heck out of it in November; or Bush has to veto the bill, allowing the Rats to play connect-the-dots back to Enron; or the bill passes, and becomes just one more law for the Rats to enforce against us but not themselves. Yes, that last possibility is the least desirable to themthe FEC will have to go after Dems at least some of the time, just to keep up appearancesbut that's a small gamble for a very big payoff.
