As neither a Catholic or a Jew, but as I think you know a friend of Israel, don't damn the Catholic Church or Pius XII on grounds of guilt by association with these defenders. I am not even debating the Church issue. I am debating the book on Germany and Finkelstein.

Blast away at Finkelstein and Shahak and that ilk, Ma'am, and more power to you. Take Chomsky while you're at it. They do a lot of harm because Gentiles can't imagine that Jews could be anti-Semites and thus think they should be taken seriously.

Chomsky, Said, Irving et al are idiots who have no defense. But that doesn't mean everything Goldhagen says doesn't deserve criticism.
Pius XII was praised by many of those instrumental in establishing Israel. Golda Meir, for example, may not be conservative, but she was hardly anti-Israel. Most of the criticism started in the 60s and was inspired by a fictional play called The Deputy. I can't remember the author's name, but he was definitely no conservative.
