I have heard two strategies that should be used against armed assailants. The first was to comply with their demands. While this seems like a bad idea, statistically, it has the higher chance of survival for the victim. The second thing, and this was only to be used if the victim knows what he or she is doing, was to create a distraction, secure the weapon, and blind the assaulter with something like mace. If you have a gun, you can just secure their weapon, and point it at your assaulter (or hit them across the eyes - that could blind them permanently though). Either case, if you have multiple assaulters, and at least two of them have guns, you are probably screwed, gun or not (if they find a gun on you, it'll probably make things worse).

Or then again, maybe not. While some criminals are more likely to work in pairs or packs, serial rapists more generally work alone, offering much better odds than you suggest. But it's just as likely that faced with serious resistance [such as the ruined body or face of his partner] a practiced criminal will find it smarter to quit while he's ahead, having previously faced the court/prison system that allowed him to be back on the street in the first place. And if not so experienced, there's a good chance he'll crumble from inexperience: in two situations in which I was attacked by multiple perps, the second, presumably weaker, of the pair fled while I was attending to the more immediate and greater threat to myself, and I was given the chance to have dealt with them in the back had I been so inclined. In one instance there were other witnesses, and I did not feel so inclined. In the other, you are invited to guess what took place.
