Our education system has some pretty bad things wrong with it, and it should be changed in many ways. I think we should start with the idea that all children who enter our school system must speak our language, if they don't know it, when entering, they can learn it, children are like little damp sponges, they pick up anything and everything, therefore if they don't speak our English, they will learn.

You are right. Every child on the planet learns at least one language. Human brains are ready for learning language in childhood and for school systems to deny children the opportunity to participate in English is wrong, as well as VERY counterproductive.
