This story has lit up the phone lines on local Phoenix talk radio. I'm amazed that this story has been buried so deep, and no one has noticed till now.

This is unbelievable. The politically correct will be the death of this nation if they are not stopped soon.

I can't form words that express how dumb this is.
Why do they need to change history?
To: narby
This statue depicts a specific historical moment in time. It was done by three individuals. But because of their skin color, they will not themselves be depicted in the statue.
This is racial bigotry.
These firemen are getting screwed because of their race.

I was listening re: this story on KFYI in Phoenix, also. This kind of political correctness belongs in the Theatre of the Absurd.

This is outrageous! The mask is off now, and Political Correctness has just crossed the line!! This revisionism of History tailored to a political agenda must not be tolerated!!! If they get their foot in the door now where will it end?

I heard this, this morning...
It reminds me of a political cartoon (A respectful one) I saw after 9-11. The artist took it apon himself (Or herself) to change one of the guys to a woman...Wearing a fire helmet and a skirt just so we KNEW without a doubt, it was a woman.
I guess if reality doesn't fit these people's agenda, they'll just insert their own brand.

My questions:
Exactly which "Fire Department officials" wanted the "racial modifications" made?
And where did the $180,000 for the statue come from ?

Where can we write, call or e-mail to protest this? Anyone know?

Included in the title you should have added:
ATTENTION WHITE MALES
It's almost a crime to be a white male.
This is P.C. garbage.

Let's hope that they hurry up and "correct" the Iwo Jima flag raising monument too, so the Marines include a woman, a black, and someone in a wheelchair ;)

This is how the federal government is working now (even under Bush)- the white does the work while the black "supervises" by going to breakfast, shopping, lunch, taking the kids to school, then files a discrimination suit and gets the awards and a low cost mortgage. Flame me if you want but its the truth that everyone is afraid to talk about. I call it reverse slavery.

As I recall, there was a big hue and cry about whether or not to portray President Roosevelt in a wheelchair. In the interest of "portraying history accurately" the wheechair was displayed. Maybe we can get the people that won this one argue again in favor of the real identiy of the firefighters? Somehow, I doubt it!

Speechless.
To: narby
They should have included a woman and an cross-dresser.
To: narby
Do the marines in the Iwo Jima statue actually look like the real marines? I'm not sure it's even that detailed.

No agenda here, nope. Move along everbody, nothing to see. Re-writting history to justify PC perceptions. The march of the mediocre left will continue until we're ALL equal, whether we like it or not.
