After Drudge, this invaluable resource is what I turn to every day for topical articles. You, and the volunteers who post link to articles, are providing us information and protecting our rights as U.S. citizens. I work in DC and every time I have the opportunity to see a Washington Post reporter/editors, I tell them what a mistake they made by taking you to court for copyright protections. God bless you.

Thank-you, Mr.Robinson!

Well, testament to the validity of FR, I ask sincerely if there is a Methadone-like treatment for Free Republicanitis -- it is THAT addictive!!I have gotten up waaay too early, gone to bed waay too late and have anticipated waay too many replies on the Self-Search to be listed as 'Normal'...
You have a true phenomenon on your hands. The fact that you need funding outside the scale of an individual should not have surprised you if your goal was for FR to catch on; rather, the fact that the extra funding is necessary is proof that this thing is bigger than any one of us!
The only thing I would change is that I would allow the moderators to delete at heart's content, but not be so quick to ban posters. Some of 'em get all worked up for a post or two but don't really warrant banning for life.

....I know, modesty precludes you from making what may seem to be lofty statements, but give it your best shot.......;).........

What is Free Republic all about? A place of (more or less)sanity in an insane world; a port in a storm; a cozy inn for weary travelers; a place to RELOAD!

Jim: There was a thread the other day about "you are a FReeper If..."and the lifers were going on and on and I chuckled knowing that as a 'Newbie' I could quit any time I wanted...really...no I mean it...don't push me...

I had not been all that politically active prior to President Clinton's election.... politics was not particularly high on my list of priorities -- until Slick came along.
It's becoming so interesting to me to see how and why people become more aware and politically active. There seems to be some pivotal person or event or realization that eventually ignites us. For you, it was Clinton.
For me, it was the realization that NO progress was being made in education by the political party always laying claim to being "for" educators. And, then: seeing how change can happen when someone -- who happens to be a GOP governor -- is actually interested in reforming education and improving the lot of educators.
A BTTT for your essay, as it's a good read. And, BTW, Jim -- you're a talented writer.

Once upon a time I went from news site to news site. Now I check e-mail, and Drudge, then log onto Free Republic for the rest of the evening.
It's kind of funny, because when you find Free Republic 'down', you can just imagine Freepers from all over saying " OH NOOO "!!!

Many of these people offering their opinion were lawyers and many of them (including our own Brian Buckley) said that we were operating well within our rights How are things with Clarity these days? I know he hasn't been posting here but I hope you guys have ironed things out between yourselves.
