Vanity: Newborn FReeper Needs Your Prayers

Dear Fellow Freepers:

Please forgive this vanity, but I'm asking our many prayer warriors for their much needed assistance.

On Monday, November 19, my placenta ruptured and I underwent an emergency c-section to save my baby girl, Skylar. The folks at Baylor did a fabulous job of rescuing us both, but Skylar has since been transferred to a Special Care unit at another hospital and will probably remain there for many weeks to come. Despite being nearly 5 lbs. and 18" long, she's only 33 weeks old and still underdeveloped in many ways.

Could you please include her in your prayers? My husband and I feel particularly helpless at this time, and are turning to the One True Source of Power for help.

Dear FReeper Friends:

We saw Skylar this morning and she is doing well. Her color is good and she's still breathing on her own. I was able to supply her with a good amount of Momma Milk (thank God!), which made the nurses extremely happy. Her heart rate is steadying and she's getting stronger. Without the C-PAC, I was able to see her entire face for the first time up close. She's a carbon copy of my son when he was a newborn. She tried to open her eyes and look at me...all very positive signs.

Thanks again for your prayers and well wishes. They definitely are working!!

We ask this in Jesus's name, Amen.

May God bless all of you. I know exactly how you feel. Our daughter was a preemie at 4 lbs. 14 oz and 33 weeks. It was very scary. Fortunately, she was able to come home after 2 weeks and treatment under the bilirubin lights. She is now a very talkative 9 years, and an absolute joy.

I know it's difficult now. But remember, Skylar already has a big advantage in having parents who love her so much.
