Muslims to pray in the White House

PRESIDENT BUSH, eager to improve America's reputation in the Muslim world, will welcome 50 ambassadors from Islamic countries for a traditional meal and prayer at the White House on Monday to mark the start of Ramadan.

It is thought to be the first time that Muslims will have knelt and touched the floor with their foreheads in a formal ceremony in the official home of American presidents.

In another unprecedented event, the Muslim chaplain of Georgetown University officiated at the opening prayers of the House of Representatives on Capitol Hill yesterday.

Charlotte Beers, who has been chosen to take charge of an American-led campaign to build support in the Muslim world, said that the White House and State Department wanted to show sensitivity to the importance of Ramadan.

I hope the WH staff does a better job screening invitees than the first memorial Dubya attended. CAIR was represented and other islamic fundamentalist supporters were there as well.

I dont believe its theater. I believe many people fear islam, although muslims have proven over and over again they are the worlds biggest cowards. Many Americans and unfortunately our President who I voted for although he is more liberal then I seem to have been misled by somebody. Since Muslim countries do not have a free press no matter how much we kiss their behinds, their hate will still be there. Remember to them we are infidels. Do you believe that our president would really stage this? I dont. Imagine Christians, Jews or hindus praying at Mecca, will never happen so why should they be allowed to set foot in the White House or in this country.

I dont see why he couldnt since Islam is a religion of peace, tolerance and love. Its time we take the oil fields and subjugate Islam before its to late.
