Thank you for posting this. This is the only thing I've seen that backs up the feeling I've had since the first anthrax letter was reported about. I can see those nutcases doing it.

I agree with your analysis. That Daschle letter is the natural hand of someone. Although they used uppercase letters throughout, they correctly capitalized the letters at the beginning of sentences and for words like America and Israel.

I find this article amusing but unlikely. I don't think it is domestic terrorists. Most of bin laden's targets have been government. The US embassies, the USS Cole, Kobar Towers, the Pentagon and even in the WTC there were a lot of government offices. Judging from this pattern, the proponderance of hitting government targets certainly does not rule out bin laden, nor does it make domestic terrorism more likely.

"Monkeywrenching" was a term used by Earth First! activists who poured sugar into the gas tanks of bulldozers to destroy the equipment of the hated timber companies. A favorite "Monkeywrenching" trick was to pound spikes into trees.
At the mills, saws hitting the spikes would explode like shrapnel.
One worker lost most of his face when his blade hit an undetected spike.
Over the years, "Monkeywrenchers" have become fond of sending mail bombs and letters in envelopes lined with razor blades. It pre-stages today's Anthrax-filled envelopes. "

And then we have Ted Kyzinski.....a solo fringe element, and thus , using hindsight , it would only take two, or three local leftwingnuts to perpetrate this terrorist crime of anthrax mailings....using the guise of anti-Bin Laden publicity as a cover.

There is ample reason to suspect that eco-terrorists could have direct ties and are working in concert with foreign terrorists.

Good Grief! Everywhere I turn, something sounds like the plot of a Tom Clancy novel; airliners flying into buildings and bioterrorism. This article reminds me of the plot of "Rainbow Six", a really good book by Clancy and obviously very prescient!

The fact that the Anthrax used in the recent U.S. attacks is domestic and not of "weapons grade" indicates the possibility of involvement by a U.S. terrorist group.

As much as I detest both EF! and ELF (and have published articles to that effect), as far as I know this statement is false. As I understand it, the material detected so far IS weaponized Anthrax: the particle size is too small and uniform for it to be otherwise. I like Tom, and have had extended conversations with the man. He is a fair and balanced human being who would not make this attribution falsely. That said, if this crucial fact is wrong, the whole article falls apart as a mere projected association.

There is indication of possible ecoterrorism only last year in the form of a scrapie infestation among Mid-Western sheep herders. From what I see, it is an effort to force meat production offshore and into the hands of third world producers dominated by large American corporations. The same thing is happening in the beef market with imports through Mexico under NAFTA. I shudder to think of the kind of bioterrorism that could be accomplished from inside a Mexican packing plant.

They may not be sending out anthrax, but ALF recetnly burned down a local (Tucson) McDonald's and have set fire to an animal lab at the University Medical Center. Diseased rats escaped into the neighborhood. Personally, I wouldn't put anything past this bunch.
