Sample of Larry Ellison's new National ID Card

Sample of Larry Ellison's new National ID Card

Larry Ellison is promoting a new National ID Card based on Oracle software. He'll give the database engine away free to show his good spirit (but maintenance and upgrades will not be free.)

Here's a prototype of what his new card might look like. Of course, it would do nothing to combat terrorism, but it would help the government and corporations keep closer tabs on innocent people in the USA.

Turns out Jefferson may have gotten in backwards. The price of excessive vigilance is liberty.

More ironic than funny: Ellison's family took its name (not that long ago) from Ellis Island. He wants his card to be "optional" for citizens who don't mind being interrogated and searched when they travel, but mandatory for immigrants.

Has it been over a year since you last donated to the Electronic Frontier Foundation? We fight stuff like Larry's card.

As I explained (and Dr. Frank explained in #452), when every forger in the US is concentating on one design someone will nail it dead-on. You advocate a card with a picture, signature and thumbprint, but not one tied to a database. Explain to me again how this will be forge-proof? How is this any less susceptible to fraud then a current ID?

(Sigh) ... so if every forger in the US has 50 designs to choose from (drivers license's), we are somehow safer from having our identification forged ....

Right ... so why don't we have 50 different state currencies as well to protect us from forgeries? Gee, thank God the US Mint see's the hole in your arguements. Too bad too much tin foil keeps you and the good Doctor from doing likewise ...

The bottom line is, you've twisted your "logic" so far to defend this NID you're arguing against yourself from one post to the next.

No, the bottom line is that you and your 2-3 supporters have stuck a stick in the ground and declared that there is no way you are going to do anything that might be even "labeled" as a national ID so you end up making such silly arguements as the above ... it ain't worth conversing to those that can't see their own il-logic when it's pointed out to them.

Good day....

My question is this, would he mind if we got our upgrades and the maintenance came from microsoft. I think he is an opportunist. If I were a share holder I would support it, but I am not a share holder so I don't support it. Just tattoo my social security number in my forearm, it work in Germany. The dumbing down of America has taken hold at the adult level.

For the first time, we agree.

Good day....

I suppose now that your emotional arguments have been wholly debunked using logic and facts, we can part ways. Good luck, bootlicker.

My oh my. Typical liberal statist behavior. Someone offers a clear, reasoned response destroying your position on a topic and rather than attempt to refute it intelligently or, god forbid, admit they have a point, you resort to insults, invective, and belittling.

On the contrary, sir, no one has offered a "clear reasoned response" yet.

And when the arguement that having 50 individual state ID's is posed as being even more difficult to forge than one, well let's just say that it is obvious there is no further point in discussing.

I entered this discussion with an open mind, to be convinced that a National ID is a bad thing ...

On my own, I did some reading, and came to the agreement that I don't want any additional national database for US citizens and that decision was made for similar reasons as you, but also for practical reasons that it just simply can't be of practical "security" use.

I have proposed, on the other hand that the national ID still has merit (as a replacement for 50 different, hence easier to forge ID's), as something that we produce at the airport just as we are producing today.

There are great things that can be done to make this ID forgery proof, without still needing a national database to accomplish, and also not having a national database to slow down use of it. (I speak from experience to this regard)

Further, I proposed that a national database SHOULD be used to track non-citizens

In all this, I have been met with religious ferver, calling me a "bootlicker", "nazi", "socialist", non-conservative, etc.

No real arguements put forth to my proposals, just a lot of ugly noise to Larry Ellison's proposal (which I did not concur with from my very first message).

With that I stayed to the end. But since name-calling and rediculous claims about 50 id's being more forgery proof than one ... well let's just let this one die a quiet death of agreeing to not agree.

Big Brother LOVES all of you.

LMAO! If I ever run into "Big Brother", I'll let him know that you are too STUPID to be monitored. Go hide under your bed ... maybe Dr. Frank will come over and you guys can keep safe and warm while you are testing the inevitable anthrax-laden and freedom-threatening dust bunnies.

Bunker monkey.

Outstanding job trying to sell the smart truth about what is "rational" and necessary here in wartime.

Don't expect any understanding from the "Freepers" of today. They are fortified in bunkers, literally and figuratively.

They know about, oh, 3 Constitutional Amendments ... the know NOTHING about the Constitution.

Seek help.

Nah. You are a loudmouthed, foolish, paranoid buffoon.

You are a "Doctor" in the same way that "Mr." Demento is a doctor. Like Julius Erving is (except he was good at what HE did).

Once again ... you have proven that YOU are not smart enough, successful enough or important enough for the GOVERNMENT to care about your movements. Get it?

NSA spook: "Dr. Frank NEVER does nothing interesting, he never engages in any activity worthwhile, he says nothing ever intelligent .... please, please release me from this duty!!!"
NSA Manger: "OK, your new surveillance is on EricOKC"
NSA Spook: No! No! ARRRRGGGGHHHHH! Where's the anthrax when I need it?

You, Dr., way overvalue yourself. Jerky.

If you are a criminal, then I hope ANY new system leads to the outcome of your ass in prison. Wit' a quickness.

That was worth extending this (completely played out) thread to #467-469?

My previous advice to you would appear to be vindicated.

And in case you have missed all of the news since 9/11, the attack was carried out by people LIVING HERE.

Thanks for the scoop, but you just don't get the big picture, do you?

Yeah, our problem is with those who are already here in America. Thanks for the update 3ZZZ, with that expertise you've earned a pundit job on MSNBC. So what do we do? How do we sift American citizens from the vile f'ing Moslem interlopers who want to kill us? Yeah, they're here. THAT'S OUR POINT!!!

Well, these bastard, enemy cockroaches have to live. They have to move around. They have to pay rent. They need checking accounts. They need Divers Licenses. A certified validation of a status THAT WE ALREADY HAVE is a way to identify the non-citizen bandits in our midst. Screw you.

I am sick and tired of SELFISH asswipes like you and Dr. Frank who put some paranoid, selfish fear of a threat to their delusional INDIVIDUAL rights (no way Constitutionally legitimate) ahead of the vital security needs of OUR country during wartime. I'll fight selfish Motha****rs like you, Dr. Frank and the rest, here online, or anywhere in person. ANYWHERE, ANYTIME. Private e-mail me boys. You guys diminish our war effort, and I don't tolerate that. That's all.

I'm not carrying this ID card. At first, this won't be a problem, it will be optional. Later, as the govenment attempts to "protect" us further, it will become mandatory. Then, for even more "protection", we'll be required to present it (probably scan it) before making any and all purchases. Which of course will be entered into the public database, or one of several. At this point, we're super "safe". The Law can just about locate anyone, anywhere, anytime by following their 'buying trail'.

Someone gets arrested, the authorites maybe pull up the "public info" on several people close to him. Maybe you're one of them. And maybe the Law doesn't like it when they see that you own things they consider dangerous; such as firearms, or anti-government literature (dubbed by this point as 'traitorous'). How tough do you think it is to trump up false charges against anyone?

In short, the big brother, crush-all-who-oppose abuse potential of this is far too great, especially since it will do little good toward the purpose for which it is currently intended.

BTW, I'm not a particularly religeous man, but this does seem somewhat reminiscent of the thirteenth chapter of Revalation.

Nobody in "Big Brother" gives a shit about a dummy like you. We want the illegal terrorists among us. God, you folks are pathetic.

Maybe not. I certainly hope not. But on any given day they could give a shit about you, me, or anyone else.

Look chief, I see your point about the terrorists. But sooner or later they aren't going to be the problem they are now. Sooner or later we're going to have someone in the White House who isn't as honorable as the man we have now. Corporate and political powers will come into play who will have no problem throwing ethics, morals, and the BoR out the window to make room for personal power.

This is the natural progression of things. It's human nature. Power is addictive, and those who have it will generally do anything to preserve it or acquire more.

I'm curious. Where do you get the idea that no U.S. government in any form would ever hurt you?
