I hope, and suspect, I'm not the only one.You got that right. The only good terrorist is a dead terrorist.

That missile defense shield is sounding better and better...Missile defence shield always sounded good to me. The nukes that are in suitcases have a potential that is really scary, too. If we get attacked with one of those, I suspect that it will be time to reduce our ICBM nuke supply on a good part of the middle east.

The Chechens as well as other Muslims never wanted this war. It was started by an opportunist war lord (Dudayev was killed in the first year of the first war when he made a cell phone call and the Russians dropped a cruise missile on him) who used Islamists to push his own personal criminal agenda (control of oil route). The mistake dead Dudayev made was soon realized by his people when they found out that instead of being used by the Islamists the Islamists were using them. That is when Chechnya turned into hell on earth when the Russians had pulled back and the non-fundamentalist Muslims lost control to the Osama Bin Ladin backed Wahabists. Chechnya can only return to peace when these militants are hunted down all killed and the Russian flag waves on over their bleached bones.

Rejecting any parallel to the U.S. campaign to wipe out the al-Qaida network in Afghanistan by force, the State Department said it remained opposed to Russia's targeting of terrorists for assassination. They may want them alive so that they can get information out of them.

That has been a consistent American position to push Russians into negotiations with a group of terrorists that aren't recognized internationally as any state entity. Russians will be wise to brush American objections off and do what they gotta do to clean up Chechnya of the Wahhabites.
To: Pericles
You make an important distinction between Chechens in general and terrorists.

You must read the book "Bin Laden: The Man Who Declared War on America" by Yossef Bodansky. Not just about Bin Laden by a long shot. All about how the Muslim Jihad has gone global with all the Jihadist groups communicating with each other. Saudi Arabia with their Wahhabis being the prime funder of operations and culprit
BTW Bodansky sure seems like Russian Jewish name! Hahhaha

Screw the Chechens! Just another bunch of barbaric 3rd worlders. They love to torture and distribute recruitment videos of these tortures of Russian prisoners ......... and videos of them slicing heads off of captives.
Islamic depravity in action! When will Americans stop romanticizing such scum from "intriguing" cultures?

madrussian, a few modifications to your comment:
That has been a consistent American position to push Russia/Israel/Macedonia/NorthernIreland/etc. into negotiations with a group of terrorists that aren't recognized internationally as any state entity.
Gee, what a startling success that has been. Not. maybe we ought to stop giving legitimacy to terrorists.

I lucked out at the library down here. I reserved it a few days after 911. The book is #37 on Amazon best seller list. And it's about a lot more than Bin Laden. Bodansky has been tracking these extreme Islamics for since 1980 and the USSR invasion of Afghanistan. This invasion put Russian army a lot closer to Saudi and scared them to death of Russian conquest of the Mid East. So the Saudis contributed mightily ($$$) to defeat USSR in Afghanistan.
The rest is history

Arafat is a piece of scum and it sucks to have to talk to him. But Israel has had to and will in the future. At least Bush says so.

You are not the only one. Islam is a sworn enemy of the West and needs to be bloodied. They got away with too much under George Bush and Clinton. Its time to put them back in their place.
Even so, come Lord Jesus
