Sometimes the alien does not show up for his deportation.

It's brilliant insights like this that make me proud to be a taxpayer...

This article illustrates why we should have had a formal Declaration of War.

I too am leary of open-ended expansions of Federal Power. With a formal Declaration, we have a finite emergency period where it's understood that the expansion ends when the war does.

Though I'm no fan of the War Powers Act, we do have a War Powers Resolution in effect. Perhaps these expansive anti-terror measures reagarding illegal immigrants and suspected fifth columnists could be made contingent upon ongoing reapproval of the War Powers, if we're not going to fromally declare war.

Bergeron also said there are “250,000 to 300,000 aliens in the United States with outstanding warrants of deportation.” These are illegal aliens who have gone entirely through the legal deportation process and have been formally ordered by a judge to be deported, but who remain in the United States anyway because of lax enforcement by the federal government.

“Those aliens who are not criminal and even some who are criminal are released by the judge on bond before their final hearing,” he said. “At the final hearing, the judge often releases the alien after ordering him to be deported. Then the INS sends him a letter saying when he will deported. Sometimes the alien does not show up for his deportation.”

I suppose we are next going to send engraved invitations requesting the presence of convicted criminals in the prison of their choice????

This is beyond ludicrous and makes me think it may be time to investigate the cash flows of these judges.

I am too angry to write civilly about my recommendations for congress. I will simply ask any congress critters lurking here: What good is my US citizenship?

Perhaps I should just renounce it; because, as a citizen, I face consequences if I break the law. As an illegal alien, I could come and go as I please. I could ignore the law and a judge's order. Hell, I could even vote!
