Is this to say that these things have no innate significance? Of course not, but they are not vessels in which significance hides until divined.
It is just that many people are so insensitised to the reality in which they are immersed, that they cannot discern the actual significance of all everyday things - the "writing on the wall" so to speak. So, rather than live in a world devoid of significance, they manufacture significance with cobbled together theories and complex but meaningless calculations as if mathematics alone can bootstrap nothing whatever into something 'significant'.
I would advise these people to find something useful to do, perhaps volunteeer at a hospital or child care center. Obviously the evidence is that they have an abundance of time to waste, and are wasting it indeed.
If I may, though... is the assertion that The prophet Ezekiel's message was for Israel alone accurate? It was meant, perhaps, for that time-for Israel....but I would submit to you that it was included in the Bible expressly for US in this time as well.
