September 12, 2001 -- THE response to this unimaginable 21st century Pearl Harbor should be as simple as it is swift - kill the bastards.

No, I don't mean hunt them, arrest them, extradite them and prosecute them in a court of law.

President George W. Bush should right now be putting his name to a fresh document - one that rescinds Executive Order 12333, signed by President Gerald Ford on Feb. 18, 1976.

Totally agree.

I have a feeling, just a sense, that this has already been done.

And targets are being listed.

An editorial primal scream - it feels so cathartic, and yet it hurts...

Right on! And if 300 million Pakistanis and Indians die from the fallout, it's their own damn fault for putting their countries so close to Afganistan.

Kattracks, I couldn't have said it better or simpler, and I'd like to help make it happen, oh yeah. Riley, that stupid Ford executive order should have been shitcanned long, long, long ago. Ford is a bootlicking, Rockerfeller republican butthole beltway loser whore. Pinpointing and eliminating a human cancer of a threat isn't an "assassination", it's common sense. Ford is just a dumb prick that thought signing such a stupid order would show the enemy that he was really a nice guy, and then they would leave him and all other "leaders" alone. How stupid can you get?

I'm tired of being a nice guy/gal to these murderers. I'm also sick of paying the price to help them. They hate us! Why should we pay them to hate us and kill us? Someone needs to answer that question. Unless there is a damn good answer then we should stop it now.

I was talking about rescinding an EO that states we can't assasinate a leader of another country. I don't remember mentioning nuking entire parts of the globe.

If it hasn't been done, it damn well should be. It should have been done by Reagan.

And if Saddam Hussein makes so much as a peep, do him, too.

I think the best way to handle that would be to draw up a short-list of "least popular," terrorist-harboring rogue states and proceed directly to decapitation strikes using, say, small nukes, to take out their leadership and C&C. We cannot involve ourselves in minutiae of who-did-what-to-whom-and-can-you-prove-it in what is now a full-scale war. Listening to Colin Powell today, I believe that the adminstration will try to get as many states as possible to sign off before taking action, reprising George Bush Sr.'s strategy during the Gulf War. There are certainly trade-offs here, and I see a strong argument for swift, unilateral action, too. Either way, the key thing is to wipe out the threat once and for all. No more half measures&#8212long-drawn out trials, the occasional token cruise missile, etc. The enemy must be brought to its knees and its leadership annihilated.

That I do not know.

Fox is reporting that "friends" of the "pilots" sat up cameras on the other side of the Hudson River and actually photographed the attack on the towers. Then they congratulated themselves.

Sick.

It reads in part: "No person employed by or acting on behalf of the United States should engage in assassination or conspire to engage in assassination."

I think we'd all better surrender, as I think we're ALL broken this law these last few days.

Shouldn't have been done in the first damn place. Not that it matters. I can't seriously believe that between 1978 and now our government hasn't been behind the offing of some bastards in the world.

As if we would have passed up a chance to assassinate Saddam Hussein back when we had our boys all over Iraq.

THIS is Mohamed Atta - believed to be one of the suicide hijackers who brought mass murder and mayhem to America on Tuesday.

The passport-size photo of expressionless Atta, 33, is from his international driving licence.

It was seized by FBI agents who raided a one-bedroom ground floor apartment he rented in Coral Springs, Florida.

Atta and a pal Marwan al Shehhi, 23, were trained as pilots at a nearby flying school by American experts.

The photo was released while nine men were being held last night as the net closed in on the terrorists.

The FBI believe Atta took over the controls of one of the flights from Boston and steered it into the World Trade Center.

His name has reportedly been found by agents sifting through the flight manual of the doomed aircraft.

The FBI picked him out because he has been linked to terrorist organisations in the past.

Atta's former residence near Fort Lauderdale, Florida was among the locations FBI agents searched on Wednesday.

Agents carted away boxes of records from the flying school in Venice, Florida, where Atta and al Shehhi took lessons to obtain their commercial flight rating.

A book-keeper at the school said: "The men claimed they were German cousins. They qualified in January and didn't mingle with other students."

Atta and al Shehhi lived briefly with a local couple, Charles and Drew Voss.

But Drew kicked them out after a week because they were rude. She said the men also told her they were German, with Atta saying his name was Otto.

In Coral Springs, FBI agents visited an apartment complex that Atta listed as his last address with the state motor vehicle agency.

They showed neighbours a picture of an Arab man known as Mohamed.

And the FBI in Miami issued a national bulletin for law agencies to look out for two cars.

Records with the Florida Division of Motor Vehicles show that one of the vehicles the FBI was pursuing - a 1989 red Pontiac - was registered to Atta. The Pontiac has not been found.

Meanwhile, THREE men were detained after armed cops raided a Boston hotel.

THREE more were dragged off a New York-bound Amtrak train in Providence, Rhode Island. And another THREE were held in Florida.

Officers pounced at Boston's four-star Westin Hotel after a rented car was found at the city's Logan airport containing flight manuals in Arabic.

Two of the men held were of Middle Eastern appearance and one Asian. In Providence, a witness told how three men were herded off the train.

One of the trio was a man with a long beard.
