Insanely brave could be an accurate description of Japanese kamikaze pilots, who flew through withering tripleA to hit legitimate military targets... not these people. These people commandeered unarmed airplanes and flew them into undefended targets, only one of which could be described as military. The World Trade Center Towers never fired a shot in their defense.

These acts were cowardly.

Sorry to disagree - I love your passion in this situation, and feel the same way - I hope Bush realizes this is absolutely an act of war.

The failure of any response to the USS Cole attack has, doubtlessly, emboldened these people.

Hack is usually very cautious about comitting US ground troops. He has a right to be. He has done more of the fighting than anyone alive. If he wants to send in the Rangers, then hell is out for noon There are two carrier battle groups headed for NY and Washington.

These are not military people fighting other military - they are civilians, too --- and they are attacking their enemy --- which is just as much you and me and any American baby in a stroller as it is a US soldier. THAT is what we must all understand, beginning with the President. This is not a military war on the part of the instigators and they will not fight it as such. We cannot look for an army to strike out at now - the crowds of civilians in the streets in Palestine cheering this victorious attack are the ENEMY - it is from them, the civilians, that this attack sprang forth against American civilians.

We heard from the girls. They had to wait an hour and a half to make a call from the street. They didn't even know what was going on until they reached the train station. They are at this point Hotel-less. My daughter told them to sleep in the lobby if they weren't guaranteed another hotel. The hotel told them all their rooms were booked for the night. By who, I ask, no one allowed in or out of the city?

Hi Val,

I consider members of terrorist groups as military - perhaps paramilitary might be a better description, but I cannot see them as civilian. They live every day looking for an opportunity to attack us - this is not a civilian mindset. That said, that entire bunch, terrorist and civilian, are our enemies, and we should treat them as such.

There are not typical state-associated targets available in this sort of situation, which makes it difficult to strike back... which is why, I believe, we must make it very distasteful for renegade states to harbor these people. How to you do this? You strike the various states that harbor these people - treat them as the enemies they are by association with the actual perps. Anything less, I believe, will leave us forever an inviting target.

Sorry I'm not so eloquent at the moment - I can't take my eyes off FOX - we're been attacked - nothing else matters. I just heard on FOX that the military is on highest alert, as though we are at war.
