Makes sense to me. Kinda like helping the Chinese against the Soviet Union, then the Soviet Union against the Chinese. Helped us to win the cold war. It has been done sucessfully in a hot war also.

The reason they switched was that they believed the lies told to them by each group. That was the Cherokee's downfall eventually - believing the white mans words back then.
