You are assuming them to be savages, when in fact they had the beginnings of civilization before the white man came. One of the few Indian tribes that understood that the Indians should unite to fight the white mans invasion. IMO white men, especially the politicians and military leaders were the savages. Most of the Indian tribes were friendly until they were pushed out of their territories.
