The Supreme Archbishop underscores that in the matter of one Church much hangs on relations with the Orthodox, referring to both the Ukrainian Orthodox Church linked with the Moscow Patriarchate and the unrecognized Ukrainian Autocephalous Church. Kinda goes without saying.
A prayer "that they may all be one..."

I wondered when this fellow would get around to something like this. My prediction is that both Rome and Orthodoxy in general will write him off as a loose, and dangerous, cannon.
One point, though. It seems to me that the article itself is confusing in that it says that the ultimate "Patriarch" in this scheme will have to be in communion with Rome and thus a Uniate. From what is quoted, it looks like a Uniate is exactly what this man is saying the "Patriarch" will not be.

Extremely confusing. When someone demystifies it, please send me a ping.

As I read it, he says this union must be developed independently. IOW, once agreement is reached, it would be generally accepted. Who better to understand such a working model than those who live it, right? (or am I misunderstanding something else here)

More Garbage attempts to unite with Rome and water down Orthodoxy. UNACCEPTABLE.
To: NYer
Sorry, I don't follow. This Cardinal is head of a Uniate church in communion with the Successor of Peter. Why is he condemning his own church?
To: NYer
Denouncing Uniatism today, Husar points out, he seeks a vision of unity which should be built not on uniformity, but on the preservation of everyones own tradition in the form of sharing. This is a rather complicated problem and, to the cardinals regret, not quite adequately solved. Lol .... classic

From what is quoted, it looks like a Uniate is exactly what this man is saying the "Patriarch" will not be.Husar wants his Uniatism without subjection. Uniate in a new way, shall we say.
That's the same (or similar) drift I've gotten from other reading on potential Catholic-Orthodox reunion.

"Why is he condemning his own church?"
A) Rome has thusfar refused to designate him a "Patriarch".
B) Uniatism is falling apart in the land of its birth.
C) Both of the above
You pick!
