The graphic isn't showing. :-(

I'm teaching Italian, just for the summer. I like it, and it gives me extra money. How about you?

I read a lot more in my youth, before the Internet and FR.

Although I am reading "Sons of the Reich - The 2nd SS Panzer Korps"

Oh shoot. I wonder what's wrong with the graphic?

Did I ever tell you the story about how when my dad and I were in Italy, we didn't speak Italian, so we just added "O's" to the end of all our English words. We were cutting up and laughing hysterically all around Italy. The Italians didn't understand us, but we had so much fun. We bumped into someone at an ice cream shop and said, "excuseo". LOL

My brother was stationed in Italy and left speaking pretty good Italian.

You know who could play Hubert Zemke in a movie? Tommy Lee Jones.

The graphics are fine, Spooky. It was just my browser. I can see them now.

LOL, I love the Italian story. I know your dad had a great sense of humor.

I was looking for you and I was just going to ask SAM where you were. Thanks for the diligent ship history everyday. Poke your head out and visit every once in awhile, our mysterious, quiet friend

"This is why I love history - the real stories are much more interesting than fiction. A great ace goes down on his last mission, only to be the right man with the right skills in the right place at the right time to save thousands of POW's from a death march. Incredible."

Had to bump your post. :)

I suppose it's silly, but I guess you can understand. LOL Somethings make me laugh so hard, when no one else in the whole wide world thinks it's funny. I'll never forget how hard we laughed. I guess we had a bad case of the giggles because it wasn't that funny. Must have been all the ice cream we ate. Ice cream makes people happy, eh?

You are right...a little too old. They just look alike to me.

I just watched "Lonesome Dove" on T.V. the other night. Have you ever read that book? That book is in my top 5. I told all my friends, "Ain't no way I'm gonna read a cowboy book and if I do read it, I'll hate every minute of it". HA! Boy was I wrong. Book is better than the movie of course.

LOL, especially if you have the mannerisms…. You know, the hands and face expressions.

"Castles in the Air" by Martin Bowman and "Flying Forts" by Martin Caiden are excellent books on the B-17.

If I might suggest, and if you haven't already read:

"The Mighty Eighth", Roger Freeman

And four outstanding personal recollections:

"Serenade to the Big Bird", Bert Stiles (hard to find, from a B-17 co-pilot who did not survive the war)
"B-17s Over Berlin", ed. Ian Hawkins (stories from the 95th BG)
"The Lucky Bastard Club", Eugene Fletcher, 95th BG
"A Wing And A Prayer", Harry Crosby, 100th BG

Happy reading :)
