UPTON, MA Alfred Consigli opened a worn leather case and pulled out a delicate datebook from 1943.
I have a lot of girls names in here, the 86-year-old said with a smile. More than that, in there is a day-to-day history of where he was in England, France, Germany and Australia in 1943, the year he was drafted into the Army.

In the living room of his small house in Upton are some examples black and white photos of German prisoners; rubble in Munich; his tank, nicknamed Blood-N-Guts; members of his crew getting a haircut while serving on the front lines.
They are rare photos taken by a rare 18-year-old sharpshooter from Milford, with cameras found in a suitcase he happened upon while searching a German house for Nazis. He kept two of the cameras for himself; he doesnt remember how many were in the suitcase, other than it was filled, and he traded all but the two.
