Cancelled 12 August 1945 when 22% complete. Scrapped on the shipway in 1958.
And it only took 13 years to decide?

Two questions
1 Does your wife know you have one?
2 Can I get a ride?

Morning WhiskeyPapa.
Maintenance was a nightmare on the Tiger. Good suspension system to handle it's weight but even minor work was time consuming.

The other problem was that the Germans weren't exactly cranking out tanks either, production times were long and the process was complicated.

It was a formidable tank, G.I's constantly reported German tanks as Tigers there were no Tigers in the area. Like the 88 it was the battlefield "Boogyman" of WWII.

IMHO the Sturmtiger was a waste of resources. Seems the Germans had a habit of wasting time and resources on "specialized" vehicles or modifications. Some like the JagdPanther where a success but most just wasted time and resources.

I quite agree. But you gotta love any tank that can fire 38cm naval ammunition. Boom. :)
