2003; Year of the Queer
Ever Vigilant ^ | 08/07/2003 | Lee R. Shelton IV

2003 has seen some of the most significant advances made by those promoting alternative lifestyles—and by that I mean 2003 has seen some of the most brutal assaults on traditional moral values in recent memory. Like it or not, "the love that dare not speak its name" has become an indelible facet of mainstream society. Let's take a brief look at a few examples.

In addition to the typical gay-friendly programming already offered by the major networks, viewers can now turn to cable TV for "reality" shows dedicated to the celebration of homosexuality. The two most recent additions are Bravo's Queer Eye for the Straight Guy and Boy Meets Boy.

Each episode of Queer Eye features a group of flamboyantly gay men offering their fashion, grooming, culinary and decorating expertise to a clueless heterosexual man in an effort to make him more appealing to the opposite sex. Far be it from me to question the obviously brilliant logic behind a show that has men who are only attracted to other men giving pointers on how to woo women, but I find the whole thing a little creepy.

Boy Meets Boy is a new dating series that focuses on an eligible gay bachelor and his quest for homosexual happiness. Naturally, there is a twist: some of his prospective partners are straight—and he doesn't know it! The producers at Bravo hope this little twist allows for "numerous avenues of heated on-air discussions and debates that challenge socially preconceived notions of what is considered gay and straight behavior." Talk about Must Miss TV.

Heated controversy over homosexuality has also been prevalent in the political arena. In June, Canada legitimized gay marriage, opening its borders to a flood of same-sex couples seeking to tie the proverbial knot. Seen by many Americans as a sign of what will inevitably occur here in the U.S., the Canadian court decision demonstrates just how detached government leaders are from tradition, morality and common sense.

On the education front we saw a throwback to the days of taxpayer-funded segregation when it was announced that New York City would be home to "the nation's first accredited public high school designed to meet the needs of gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and questioning youth." Receiving over $3 million in tax revenue, Harvey Milk High School has become the latest and best reason for ending the public funding of education once and for all.

Homosexuality has also found a prominent place in religion with the affirmation of Rev. Gene Robinson as the first openly gay Episcopalian bishop. For many, this came as no surprise since the U.S. Episcopal Church has long been viewed as the most liberal branch of the Anglican Communion. But this latest event was perhaps the most devastating insult to everyone clinging to what little decency remains in this country. What's left to corrupt when the church itself blasphemes Almighty God and embraces sodomy as some kind of new sacrament?

It is my opinion that if the Anglican community has any shred of credibility left, it will sever all ties to the apostate wing of the church and start focusing once again on the edification of the body of Christ. Any attempt to find some "common ground" with those who reject the teachings of scripture will fail miserably. Pain and judgment will be the ultimate results.

No matter how you break it down, right is still right, and wrong is still wrong. Just because some in the media, the government and the church have endorsed alternative lifestyles does not make homosexuality any less of a sin. Despite everything society says, there is still a line separating tolerance and acceptance. The challenge is daring not to cross it.

Excellent article Lee .

You know in scripture that it speaks to the conscience being seared . That is the goal of the Homosexual lobby right now. To make homosexuality seem more pervasive than it is (3% of the population) and to make it seem "normal" to the generation following us . They recently post a poll that asked High School seniors how they felt about Homosexuality . In the 1950's only 12% thought it was acceptable. Today the number is 49% .

The handwriting is on the wall here. The children have been brainwashed by the society and the churches have done nothing of substance to counter it

The gays seem to have a lot of power for being just 3% of the population.

Too bad noone markets a roof structure that can withstand fire and brimstone from heaven.

The new "gay" high school in NYC is especially troubling because its sole purpose is to encourage and promote homosexuality among impressionable teenagers. How long will it be before we see "gay" elementary schools or "gay" pre-schools?

The preachers were right who decried the television in the 50's.

Has anyone here ever actually met a truly happy, content homosexual??? I've known a few, and many of them seem either manically depressive, uptight, or combattive.

Well, you know how they would respond to that: "If we are unhappy, it's only because we are oppressed by society and aren't allowed to be ourselves."

The gays seem to have a lot of power for being just 3% of the population.

They don't have all that much power, they just get a lot of free publicity from the mainstream, commieliberal press.

We must make a concerted effort to teach our children that this kind of behavior is a choice these people make. A BAD choice, and one they will eventually pay for.

Don't watch the 'gay oriented' shows, and write to the sponsors of these shows letting them know you are boycotting their products until they stop supporting these disgusting deviants.
