I recently read "The Mass of the Early Christians" by Mike Aquilina, Joseph C. Linck and Scott Hahn. It draws on most of the material you and salvation posted, the Bible and paintings and words/phrases in the earliest Christian catacombs. It is fascinating and, IMO, should be in every sacramental Christian's library.
