US Cardinal soon to be outed as homosexual...Which one?
O'Reilly, NY Post, The Diocese Report, others... ^

Posted on 05/20/2002 7:49:43 PM PDT by Polycarp

On Fox tonight O'Reilly said a cardinal is about to be outed as an active homosexual. Rumor has it Bishop Bruskiwiecz sent a letter telling this Cardinal to "resign, or else..."

NY POST: WHICH American cardinal recently disclosed to insiders a confidential letter he received from a bishop urging the cardinal to resign for the good of the church? The cardinal is being urged to quit before his much-gossiped-about homosexual indiscretions are uncovered by the media . . . WHICH ranking priest of a major diocese predicted over a boozy dinner the other night that if the media outs this particular cardinal, "then the dominoes will really start to fall"?

Egan was Bishop of Bridgeport, CT before becoming Archbishop of New York.

Sink,

I see your agenda against anti-traditional Catholicism appears undiminished.

I hardly see how Bruskewitz can shoehorn anyone into Lincoln when it's already at capacity until they finish the additional buildings.

They rejected over 90% of their applicants as it is.

The Dallas rector can say anything he wants about the demand for a Tridentine Mass - if in fact that was the real reason(s) Bruskewitz pulled his seminarians.

Somehow I suspect you are not getting the real story.

Color me surprised.

Never forget the power of the purse -- and its relationship to the collection plate....

We haven't forgotten it here, and for our efforts my own bishop has characterized our little group of conservative Catholics as "diabolical" and "Catholic taliban." See this thread: Some Catholics aim for Altoona-Johnstown Diocese's coffers

"no demand for a Tridentine Mass"

Sounds like a familiar line. There are serious problems when it is easier to find a condom or a gay magazine at a seminary than a Tridentine Mass.

No matter how hard they try, the forces of evil will not succeed in their current endeavor to destroy the Church.

The Church is greater than this scandal and will root out the HOMOSEXUAL ELEMENT THAT IS RESPONSIBLE for this outrage.

The gays, leftists, and other assorted scum busy working to destroy Catholicism are in for a surprise when the Church turns the tables on them and starts to actively throw homosexuals out of the priesthood.

Then these same SOB's will cry discrimination.

They can all go to hell.

Well, he's just focusing on a particular point of Church teaching: that homosexual orientation is not sinful, while homosexual behavior is intrinsically disordered.

It's an important distinction that all too often gets overlooked, usually in favor of accepting sinful behavior as legitimate and "diverse." Sometimes, though, those of us on the other side of the issue are guilty of failing to make that distinction as well.

Hate the sin; love the sinner. It's not always easy to do, but it's our duty.

There are serious problems when it is easier to find a condom or a gay magazine at a seminary than a Tridentine Mass.

Well, what do you do, as a seminary rector preparing men for a Novus Ordo world, when none of 48 men at your seminary are interested in attending a Tridentine Mass? Force them to attend one?

A seminary is a community. Breaking them into "Tridentines" and "Novus Ordos" wouldn't seem to foster community worship.

I got on earful on Bruskewitz from a classmate of mine, an official at the seminary here in Dallas. He's pulling all his guys out of the college seminary here because 1) he didn't like what he heard at the University of Dallas, even though it is one of the most conservative colleges in the United States and is consistently among those recommended by National Review and 2) he was concerned that a Tridentine Mass wasn't offered at the seminary, even though NONE of his seminarians had requested one and the rector told him that there was simply no demand for a Tridentine Mass. Bruskewitz sounds as if he's trying to shoehorn his seminarians into the FSSP seminary in his diocese. Does he actively discourage the Novus Ordo? 12 posted on 5/20/02 8:05 PM Pacific by sinkspur

Sinkspur,

The good Bishop of Lincoln, NE has TWO new seminaries in his Diocese, the new Diocesan one, opened ~ 3 years ago,Saint Gregory the Great Seminary, (http://www.stgregoryseminary.edu/) as well as the new FSSP Seminary, Our Lady of Guadalupe. No other Bishop has opened 2 seminaries in his diocese in the past 5 years.

Your friend is spreading un-truths.

Why are you so quick to malign Bishop Bruskewitz? A little basic research would have cleared up this matter.

I'm sorry for all those who are a part of the RC church over this.

Heck, I've never been more excited or fired up to be Catholic. God has been preparing hoards of Catholic saints for this very moment in time, so that just when Satan thinks he has dealt Christ a death blow to His church, His children take the field and vanquish the monsters!

Ever see the movie Gladiator? Did you ever once think any of the villians or beasts were actually going to defeat Maximus? Heck no! We knew a three hour movie couldn't last three hours if the hero died in the first segments!

God has trained an army of lay Catholic activists for this very moment. We're going to slay the beast.

I've never been more proud to be Roman Catholic, personally. Because I see many great Catholic who up till now led quiet simple lives of prayer and hidden activism, not knowing they were being trained for this very moment of history.

And they're coming forward to fight as members of the Church Militant.

There has never been a more glorious time to be Roman Catholic.

All the great saints wished to live to see this day.

We shall prevail.
