US Cardinal soon to be outed as homosexual...Which one?
O'Reilly, NY Post, The Diocese Report, others... ^

Posted on 05/20/2002 7:49:43 PM PDT by Polycarp

On Fox tonight O'Reilly said a cardinal is about to be outed as an active homosexual. Rumor has it Bishop Bruskiwiecz sent a letter telling this Cardinal to "resign, or else..."

NY POST: WHICH American cardinal recently disclosed to insiders a confidential letter he received from a bishop urging the cardinal to resign for the good of the church? The cardinal is being urged to quit before his much-gossiped-about homosexual indiscretions are uncovered by the media . . . WHICH ranking priest of a major diocese predicted over a boozy dinner the other night that if the media outs this particular cardinal, "then the dominoes will really start to fall"?

"I think the NY libs would love nothing better than to destroy a local one."

If it is he, then HE has chosen the path of destruction himself.
As much as we'd like to, we cannot blame this on the NY liberal media.

My own inside info confirms your suspicions. How he was named Cardinal Archbishop of DC . . .is anyone's guess.

And this will not be the worst. Oh No. The worst will be when it is revealed that a bishop/archbishop has been blackmailed.

excellent truth here.

In short there is no such thing as 'homoseuxal orientation' there is only homosexual behavior

This is the guy from the Jesuit School of Theology!

While I haven't been a practicing Roman Catholic for years (I'm now Assemblies of God) I did attend a Jesuit university and I learned there that the Jesuits don't really seem to be Christian. They are far too liberal to be interested in God's word as a absolute truth.

Bishop Bruskewitz is simply a loyal Catholic and an honest man. There are, regretably, fewer than half-a-dozen diocesan bishops in America who are willing to speak out frankly on matters of "controversy," and he is one of them.

I agree with you about the University of Dallas, where I know some of the people. BUT . . . there have been signs in the last year or two that all is not well there in the leadership department, either. I think there was an article in Crisis Magazine about it, but regretably their old web site has vanished and the new one only goes back into late 2001, so I can't refresh my memory and confirm the details. It was a dispiriting article because, as you say, that is, or was, one of the few solid Catholic universities around.

Did the Catholic Church do a 180 on this??
Or just a goofy priest trying to be PC??

Fr. Richard MacBrien of Notre Dame is an infamous dissenter.

He wouldn't know true Catholicism if it bit him in the nose.

Ever notice that once Satan has used his playthings for his desgns and purposes, he destroys them if they remain unrepentant?

Those pushing this agenda in our Church are still unrepentant, yet they do not know that their time of usefulness has ended. Expect greater scandals to come that dwarf anything to date.

This is very sad and tragic, but I think you are right. May God continue to bless His church, and purify us sinners so that we may become stronger and more faithful through our suffering.

"I think that we're born gay or straight" I think no one knows

Everyone is born hetersexual. It is only through molestation (or other mental trauma) or a missing or inadequate relationship with ones father that one falls victim to Same-sex Attraction Disorder (SAD). SADs don't reproduce, they recruit.

SAD is a mental illness, not a lifestyle. Unfortunately it's an illness that many SADs choose to remain in rather than be cured of.

I think that you mistake the truth of the Church with the sins of some within the Church.

The Catholic Church teaches biblical moral values that all Christians are called to emulate, strive for, live for. Some fall. It is particularly disturbing when those who fall are in positions of power within the Church: but you need to distinguish between the biblically-based teachings of the Church, and the certain individuals within the church who have turned against the teachings.

God bless.

I also had a very good impression of Cardinal Law when he was Bishop of Bridgeport. Unfortunately, given the depths of this mess, I no longer entirely trust my judgment without having more to confirm it. Bishop Law confirmed several of my children, gave several excellent sermons in our parish church, got rid of a troublesome, senior pastor in at least one case I know something about, wrote completely orthodox columns in the diocesan paper, and gave every sign of being a fine, upstanding prelate who was just what New York needed. But now we are all waiting for more shoes to drop. Still, I would be very surprised to learn that he is one of the troublemakers, because he has given no outward signs at all of being sympathetic with liberal dissent. He seems to have messed up once with a molesting priest, which is troubling, but that probably was just bad judgment and maybe a little prelatical hubris.

This is inevitably what happens when a bureaucracy is left to reinvent the meaning of the entity it is supposed to serve... heresy.

Precisely the same scenario as entrenched liberals redefining the U.S. Constitution.

No good can come of either.

Were you aware that Father Judge, the police chaplain, who was killed at the WTC was a known homosexual....and a favorite of hillary's. She gave one of the invocations as his funeral.

It is not a fun time to be a Catholic, but the time to exorcise these demons is right now.

Yes, we need to cleanse the Church and go back to the business of worshiping God through His Son, Jesus Christ. But my faith hasn't wavered one iota since these stories flooded the country. I am 100% devoted to Jesus Christ, and 100% believe that the Catholic Church is the Church established by Him, and therefore the gates of Hades will not prevail.

This is a time of purification, a time of suffering, a time of struggle: it is not the time to walk away and say, "Oh, well, all is for naught." It is a time to stand firm, to know our faith -- to learn more about our faith -- to attend Mass as often as possible, at LEAST every week; to pray more than ever before. It is a time to meditate on the Holy Eucharist and the gift Jesus gave us, Himself, every time we need Him.

God bless.

Cardinal Law's predecessor in Boston was Humberto, Cardinal Madeiros, the first Portuguese-American Cardinal. Richard, Cardinal Cushing was Madeiros's predecessor.
