Your post on Bush was not just an insult to him, it was libelous. I'll bet you would libel Reagan, too, if he were trying to paddle through these rapids today.

"As these events were unfolding, we continued to receive what appeared to be credible reports from Israel that Begin, who believed in the biblical maxim or "an eye for an eye," and his defense minister, Ariel Sharon, a bellicose man who seemed to be chomping at the bit to start a war, were preparing for a full-scale invasion of Lebanon against the PLO, waiting only for the slightest provocation to launch it....
"I emphasized my personal commitment and that of the United States to the support of Israel. I supported its right to defend itself against attack, but appealed for Israel not to go on the offensive...
"Israel's response was, in effect: Mind your own business."

Ronald Reagan, from his autobiography, An American Life

"When I began entering into the give and take of legislative bargaining in Sacramento, a lot of the most radical conservatives who had supported me during the election didn't like it. "Compromise" was a dirty word to them and they wouldn't face the fact that we couldn't get all of what we wanted today. They wanted all or nothing and they wanted it all at once. If you don't get it all, some said, don't take anything.
"I'd learned while negotiating union contracts that you seldom got everything you asked for. And I agreed with FDR, who said in 1933: 'I have no expectations of making a hit every time I come to bat. What I seek is the highest possible batting average.'
"If you got seventy-five or eighty percent of what you were asking for, I say, you take it and fight for the rest later, and that's what I told these radical conservatives who never got used to it."

Ronald Reagan, from his autobiography, An American Life

Great post! If look for another ten minutes on the internet, I would bet you could find a couple hundred more ways to support a weak stance on terrorism and why Jews should not protect themselves against barbarians. Happy hunting!!

Yep. These are same types of people who said that everything President Reagan did was "for the oil", "about the oil" ...
"theoiltheoiltheoiltheoiltheoiltheoiltheoiltheoiltheoil"..."soldusoutsoldusoutsoldusoutsoldusoutsoldusoutsoldusoutsoldusout"
....after a while the vitriolic monotony of the chant gets to people like us so we try to shout them down with the truth...but they just chant all the louder. Same litany, different decade, different words.

The PLO was trying to turn Lebanon into an armed camp, and was launching attacks across the border at Israel. Sorry, but the Gipper was flat wrong here.
